A 7 game suspension is nothing compared to jail time, which if you believe the victim in this case, he deserves. I’m actually shocked that he would receive any punishment from BYU. I thought for sure it would be swept under the rug. 7-5 sounds about right if he leaves, 9-3 if he stays.

I still laugh at fans getting frothy over a recruit signing (or not signing). How many times do I have to say it? HS recruiting doesn’t matter any more. No, not in the slightest.

From the Horses mouth.
“We are going to focus less and less on kids from HS and fill our immediate needs with players from the portal”. “High School players with fill depth gaps.”

There is no developing in the NIL era. The second that talent grows into NFL caliber type players, they will seek out better NIL deals that Utah can’t match. It’s a big reason why they lost some decent talent to BYU, Washington and Alabama in the previous portals – those schools all have more NIL resources than Utah.
The Utes will be able to…[Read more]

I mean, we’ve had two sht years and bringing in a brand new OC. you think high school kids are flocking in line to come to Utah? Naw, while I do like the guys we are recruiting, we are a developing school and going back to the way we do things. mold 3 star into NFL talent.

No? I think we can all agree that the 2024 season would have gone dramatically different for Utah if Rising didn’t get injured vs Baylor.
No coach is going to have a full and clear understanding of how things will go if they lose their best player.
If you want to be critical of Whitt over something, be critical of the fact he put all his eggs in…[Read more]

Right, so Whittingham had no idea what he was about to field. Do you understand how concerning that is if you believe it’s true?

What’s more we already aren’t competing on the field. Two and a half years of the worst football in decades and a middling recruiting class. There aren’t a lot of programs where the coach wouldn’t be on the chopping block at this point.

Pointing out that our recruiting hasn’t been this bad since the Mountain West days isn’t trolling. We seem to have a lot of red goggled fans who still think the “diamond in the rough” method is going to work like it always has. It won’t work in the NIL era. The bottom line is that if we can’t compete in NIL, we won’t compete on the field.

Under KW’s recent contract amendment we’ll know by 12/8 or 12/12-(if Utah is in the B12 championship) whether KW is staying for another year or not. His special advisor contract under the amendment was pushed to a two year $3.5 million
yearly contract term from the original 5 year, $995K yearly payout. Smart move by KW and UofU. KW has stated he…[Read more] -

JUCO Tight End from San Diego. A 3-star, but had an offer from Oklahoma. Ranked as the 4th overall JUCO prospect in the class of 2026. Good get. Hope he’s great.

I’m saying Whitt had very high expectations for Utah entering 2024 and it was a big reason he even came back after the 2022 season (everything was predicated on a healthy Cam).
Whitt fully bought into the idea that Utah was the favorite to win the Big 12 last year and make the playoffs. Had they done that, he was set to hang it up.

Are you suggesting that our head coach had no more information that would suggest our team was a disaster than the average sports pundit?

I don’t think it was stupid at all. Utah was the near-consensus last year to win the Big 12. I think that’s exactly what he expected was the likely outcome of the season.

I don’t think he’s that stupid.

I don’t think so. Whitt isn’t likely to settle going out with a pretty average team, especially with 2026 being a solid-expected team.
Unless Utah major surprises and wins the Big 12, I think Whitt will see it through 2026. Just hard imagining him retiring on a 8-5 or 7-6 note and that’s likely what Utah is looking at this year.

I think this is the last year for Coach Whit as HC but believe he will stay on staff in a “CEO” type role for 3-5yrs.
