That’s what Drake C. Toll is saying on Locked on Big 12. If true, it’s just about what everyone predicted seeing as he has zero ties to Colorado and his sons and Travis Henry are gone.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Garcia work his way into a starting role, specifically that right guard spot.

That’s a good point Rick! The only hesitation I have with Guillory is that he’s 17 years old … he reclassified to this class to graduate from high school early!
That said, he absolutely has the skillset and ability to play and play early! I think it’ll depend on his adjustment to the college level. Worst case he plays sparingly and we redshir…[Read more]

The offensive line should be the strength of the offense for Utah next year. We return all of our starters from last year. This is how I see the pecking order play out.
I think there’s a lot of flexibility with Ike. In my opinion he’s the first lineman off the bench regardless of position.

Terrific list to review. One omission – Raycine Guillory at running back. He’s a four-star incoming freshman whose offer sheet looks like a who’s who of college football. I know we’ve been disappointed in freshmen running backs for a few years so we’ll see; but he looks more the part physically. I think there is one more freshman as well but I…[Read more]

Check out this presser from another short bald coach who actually has standards (UCLA’s Cronin):

Polar opposite attitudes. Smith’s participation trophy standards are f’n pathetic. I’m not going to bother listening to anymore of Smith’s press conferences. Every postgame presser is always the same crap,…[Read more]

Agreed. Doing nothing gives us no actual chance at saving college athletics. So while whatever they propose can never be perfect, I don’t think it can get any worse than the current state of college athletics.

I recall when the hire was made thinking that he better be able to coach up the talent he gets, because he’s not a good recruiter. Well, he himself hasn’t been a good recruiter during his tenure, and to me, there’s no proof he’s coached up the talent he has gotten. Do they fire him after the season or do they wait for one more miserable season…[Read more]

Four years later and the basketball program is a dumpster fire thanks in large part to Craig Smith who I knew was a bad hire the day he was announced as Utah’s next head basketball coach. Utah will probably lose the rest of their games and even though they started conference play with at least 18 more games to go.
I think Smith has had more than…[Read more]

Yep, we should be promoting Raycine Guillory. Have you seen his offer list?! Georgia, Ohio St, Michigan… He’s a talent.

Did you hear Bill RIley’s interview with Smith last night at Slackwater Pizza? I listened to it on my way to the Jazz game versus the Heat. Put simply, the man’s delusional. If you heard him talk, you’d think that Utah was undefeated and that they actually beat Iowa State. All he did is talk about all of the positive things that happened in…[Read more]

Ty was all world as a FR. Zack was impactful as well. We played the wrong Freshmen in Wilmore and Brumfield, should have been Bernard.
We have had ready FR RBs, need to become more reliant on them. Not saying you do it with bigger learning curve positions (QB), but RB is not one of those positions.

When I watch them it is like watching a high level AAU super league team vs. a Junior Jazz team. The basketball skill is not there. The basketball IQ is not these. The athleticism is not there. You cannot play great defense lacking these things against opponents that all have them. Our first three opponents all have them. We got killed three…[Read more]

I think the problem hasn’t been the players not stepping up but the people in charge of letting them play. In my opinion, WR and RB are the two positions that are the most transferable from HS to college in terms of being ready to play immediately. And these were also the two positions where we continually heard that kids weren’t ready because…[Read more]

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. And, someone needs to explain to me how the current NIL and Portal situation could be worse because it really can’t. So I’m willing to at least give Congress a chance to fix the issue. I mean, we’re literally in a Wild West situation here with no rules, law of the strongest, and anarchy holding sway…[Read more]

I agree. This year proves that a field of 12 is better than a chosen 4. Getting to see the cream rise to the top is a joy ride. The traditional favorites have to put up or shut up now. Quite nice indeed.
