The only thing that has me concerned is QB and DL depth.
If Dampier goes down it’s gonna be year three of offensive struggles.
Same thing if any of the 4 man rotation at DL get hurt. Everything in Whit’s D plays off the DTs eating up blocks and letting LBs make plays. IF the interior DL suffers a bunch or injuries it will be a long season of…[Read more]

Good for them. They were in a treacherous spot with the WAC crumbling down around them. SUU made at terrible choice to.leave the Big Sky a few years back. Lucky they seem to have got back in.
I think Tech could be a sleeping giant in FCS. St. George is a growing city and should be attractive to croots.

I don’t see how this year’s RB room is any different than last year’s.
MB out produced Parker last year and had a big drop off to the backups. IMO there’s a big drop off from Parker to these backups who were backups on MW teams last year. This RB room is a far cry from TT, JJ and MB where there was no drop off from RB1 to RB3. If Parker doesn’t…[Read more]

RBs too high and QBs too low IMO. Obviously, our Oline is the strength of this team. We need to take advantage of this strength. Hopefully, Dampier can have an outstanding season behind this line.

All that happened was (1) a Mormon kid, committing to (2) his daddy’s alma mater, with (3) a 7-figure incentive. Zoob nation wants to paint this as though “they’re back”, and had overtaken Utah as the more prized in-state institution, but this kind of recruiting “win(s)” only happen when there’s a “legacy” kid seeking approval from parents and…[Read more]

The Lyons kid makes more sense considering his family background. Plus, if NIL is what it’s cracked up to be, why not attend your family’s school, where they all went to? BYU has the advantage now with LDS kids, who were a likely lean but now with NIL and willingness to pay top $$. It is what it is….

Jake Heaps is Russell Wilson’s personal QB coach. I didn’t know that.

Most years this would be a perfect post for this time of year and worth some thought. This year nothing matters but our very basic preparedness to score points.

I think your list is pretty spot on – I worry a little about the quality behind Parker at RB but I trust that the people filling out the roster knew what they were doing.
It seems like we are trying to bring in a higher level of talent at WR for the future. If we get a couple of the guys who are supposedly looking hard at the program perhaps we…[Read more]

Is it just me or is Jacob Patrick a Shaun Green doppelganger? I hope he can shoot like Shaun!

Would love some input on this. Thinking through where we stand at each position group and how confident I am in both their ceiling and their floor. I do not know enough about special teams to have that included.
1. Offensive Line: 5 veterans with depth. 2 possible first rounders at the tackle positions. Great coach, high morale. I’m guessing t…[Read more]

You’re right. That did sting a little. So did the basketball guy.

I guess if it makes us feel any better, there are a ton of videos of him getting absolutely embarrassed by “lower level” talent at a recent camp. Here’s just one.

Until we see how the House settlement will impact NIL/athlete pay in the real world, it’s probably best to assume that commitments from high schoolers carry as much weight as the promise rings they give their girlfriends on prom night.

I blame that all on Whitt! he should have benched Wilson when it was clear he wasn’t ready after 0-2/3. who cares about his NIL and his parents, and not having enough faith in Rose. Rose proved him wrong during the BYU game when he got injured in the 2nd half.
Whitt, IMO, has been a very poor judge of character at the QB position in his years at Utah.

I agree. How teams do this year will affect commitments that can easily change. The portal will also adjust based on this years results. 2026 recruiting will only come together as players sign, for now they are simply noting their lean.

I think we all share the concern that a lousy 5-7 season hurts recruiting. I am not naive to that. But the Byu fan hype machine portrays Utah as a conference bottom-feeder, and that the program is done and over with it.
Given that Utah is still well in the thick of having numerous 4-star players commit, I think the total “doomsday” scenario is…[Read more]

Utah fell flat on its face the past 2 years with the QB fiasco at arguably one of the most important 1-2 years. I’m worried at the affects.
