I was doing some stat searching as well.
Total offense ranks as OC:
2013 Tennessee: 95th
2019 Boston College: 47th, Utah 48th
2020 Northwestern: 93rd, Utah 52nd
2021 Northwestern: 116th, Utah 40th
2022 Northwestern: 107th, Utah 17th
2023 Northwestern: 124th, Utah 94th
Our defense is much better which I believe helps our offense with possessions, scoring chances, field position. Interestingly, Northwestern’s recruiting classes from 2020-2023 are ~48th in the nation. We are ~30th.
The week 9 Pick Em contest is open for your picks. You can make your picks on the website by going to the Hub menu, then selecting Pick Em or by going directly to https://www.utehub.com/pick-em. On the free Ute Hub mobile app, you can tap on Pick Em on the home screen.
This week’s winner will collect a $25 Amazon gift card courtesy of sponsor Company Vitals and @UteBacker. Don’t forget to make them every week to have the best shot at the grand prize which is going to be announced soon.
We had a 4-way tie for first place this week at 8-4 in Pick Em. For a tiebreaker I went to the standings for this week in the Predict the Score contest. Warrior Ute was the winner with 7 points. Hats off to Warrior Ute who will be collecting a $25 Amazon gift card from sponsor Company Vitals and @UteBacker!
Such an annoying fan base, please osu find a way!
I guess this is how byu-p fans felt 2021-2022
*Four season-ending injuries Miami
-2020 injury in his first game against USC
-2021 Rose Bowl
-2022 Rose Bowl
-2024 ASU
If he wants to go elsewhere and continue his career I fully support it. But he can’t hold the Utah program hostage anymore, even if he is the best option when he’s at the top of his game because there is no guarantee that he can reach that level again.
It is in everyone’s best interest that he get healthy and moves on with his life however he chooses. The roars for him will be incredible in 2031 when the team celebrates the 2021 Rose Bowl squad.
“… in space”. get the ball to the playmakers in space!
What did Ohio State do in the 2021 Rose Bowl? They ran 2 receivers deep, another on an 18 yard in and their best receiver Smith-whatever on an 8-12 yard drag route. Granted, Utah pass rush was stymied all game but you ended up with 4 legitimate options every play and DB’s can’t cover that.
If the deep routes have the receiver even with the DB and his back is turned you throw it to the shoulder away from leverage. Deep routes initially covered, just hit the deep in. And if you aren’t absolutely confident in those 3 options on any particular play, just put it in your best receivers hands with 10 yards of cushion because he’s had plenty of time to find the open spot against an inferior defender. Might even work out to a record throwing day.
Or you could call inside zone all day and hope the defense decides not to try to stop it a couple of times.,,
nothing beat the 2 points conversion vs USC
another one that might be less popular: Cam read the play call wrong and thought the play was a flea flicker against USC in 2021. The coaches called a time out and thought the flea flicker was actually a good call and went with it. That play was kind of like the turning point of that season
1. 15 October 2022 – Utah 43 – USC 42. Two point conversion to win it.
2. 1 January 2023 – tOSU 48 – Utah 45. Cam rips off a 62 yard TD run to put the Utes up 35-21 at HT.
3. 2 December 2022 – Utah 47 – USC 24. Cam shreds USC for well over 300 yards and 3 TDs as the Utes romp to a second consecutive PAC title.
Honorable Mention: 18 September 2021 – SDSU 33 – Utah 31. Cam relieves a woefully ineffective Charlie Brewer and leads the Utes on a wild 4th QTR comeback that ultimately falls short in OT. That’s the game where the legend of Cam Rising started to be born.
That USC game was two years ago today. That would probably be my favorite if I had gotten to go but I think the 2021 game against Oregon beats out that USC game for me just because I was there. The Bad Moon video they played before that game was awesome
