ParticipantIt’s amazing how well Jayden Daniels is doing for how much shade was thrown at him. It’s amazing what you can do when you’re actually surrounded by a ton of talent.

ParticipantI thought he’d been benched but didn’t want to commit.
Perfect example of Utah breaking a highly recruited kid with it’s defense. Damn near did it to Jayden Daniels and Thompson-Robinson also. Most of these kids have never had to deal with the kind of pressure that a defense like Utah’s can put on them. It takes time to learn how to handle it and most never do.

ParticipantJayden Daniels bugged me the most because it’s believed he flipped pretty last minute to ASU. Although I’m glad we’ve had Cam over him so I’m grateful he went elsewhere.

ParticipantZW was passed over for Jack Tuttle, not Jayden Daniels. ZW and Tuttle were 2018 classes, Daniels was 2019. Your point still stands.

ParticipantEven worser than that, Utah didn’t even offer Dart because of Costelli.
Just as they never offered Zach Wilson because they were all in on Jayden Daniels. Even took a commitment from his teammate who was never going to qualify.

ParticipantTrue that. And how Jayden Daniels never gets seriously hurt given his frame and style of play, is a miracle!

SEC: 7 of 1409/19/2023 at 10:23 AM #196507In reply to: Level of excitement?

ParticipantMy excitement is based on just surviving and advancing each week. Our schedule is crazy difficult, lots of ranked road games, but defense travels. If we manage just to survive this week, we get a chance to survive next week. The odds are small, but we have a schedule that will leave absolutely no questions if we manage to come out on top of the PAC.
I mean, we already have a win over a now-ranked SEC team. You saw the Gators run rough-shod over Tennessee right? Holy cow. Swamp in effect for sure, but man they looked much better when not playing our front 7.
So….. I agree with OnlyU. We owe UCLA something after the egg we laid last year. That freshman QB is ridiculously talented, but he’s also about to face a defense unlike anything he’s ever seen. Jayden Daniels never looked worse than he did as a Freshman in Rice Eccles. Dante Moore’s about to get that treatment.

Yergensen
ParticipantIf this is personal favorites/fun to watch factor and not best Utah Safety, I’m going with a ballhawk or big hitter. IMO because of his physicality and ability to separate players from cleats, Marquise Blair was fun to watch and a personal favorite. He also made that 2019 defense nasty and feared (so much that Jayden Daniels talked about it publicly), something missing in recent years.
