#12 Tyler Wegis and Sidney Mbanasor

Tyler Wegis, RS Freshman DE, 6-6, 228

Tyler is a DE from who came to Utah in 2020 from Orange County, California. As a senior at San Juan Hills HS, Tyler had 92 total tackles (37.0 TFL, 10.5 sacks), 3 passes defended, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 fumbles forced and a blocked PAT all the way to the 2019 CIF SS Championship.  He was named to the first team All-Orange County.  At Utah he has yet to see game action but has been adding muscle to his long frame, gaining 25 lbs over his High School weight.  Not sure his standing jump height by his height would seem to be advantagous on passing downs and/or special teams such as field goal blocking.

Sidney Mbanasor, Freshman WR, 6-5 216

Sidney is a TE turned WR and all-around athlete from Pflugerville, Texas (Austin metro area).  Besides football, he also competed in basketball and track (40 yd time: 4.55).  His senior year he caught 21 passes for 543 yards (25.9 ypc) and 6 TDs for the Panthers, earning 2nd Team All-District.  His brother, Nelson, plays for Texas Tech.  At Utah he was moved to WR and has already grabbed some attention in an exciting practice catch that took-off on Tik-Tok.   Lets hope there are a lot more highlight videos from this newcomer.
