      #14 Josh Calvert, Sophomore LB, 6-2 225

Josh is a transfer from Washington where he suffered an injury in 2019, redshirted, and did not see action in 2020.  He joined the Utes in fall 2021 and appeared in one game, versus Stanford.  Calvert is originally from Oaks Christian HS in Westlake Village (NW of Los Angeles), California.  At Oaks Christian he played QB, LB and safety for the Lions. He was named Ventura County co-Defensive MVP in his senior season (2018) after recording 70 tackles on the season.  As a QB, that same year he threw for 1,337 yards and 15 TDs, while also rushing for 344 yards (7 TDs) while leading the Lions to the semi-finals of CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.  His younger brother, Ethan, also is a Utah LB.  Even after losing starters to the NFL and graduation the Utes have a deep and strong LB room.   Josh will continue to battle for playing time as the LB room remains strong with several returning Utes having more experience to date, plus highly-touted newcomers Lander Barton and Mohamoud Diabate.

Justin Medlock also factors into the LB rotation.
