#20 Lander Barton and Jett Meine

      #20 Lander Barton, Freshman LB, 6-4, 230

Lander comes from an all-Ute all-star athlete family, from his parents to his brothers Cody (Utah LB 2015-19, Seattle Seahawks) and Jackson (Utah OL 2014-18, LV Raiders) and sister Dani (Utah Volleyball star 2017-21).  He is a 4-star recruit, High School All-American from Brighton HS.  At Brighton he played football and basketball for the Bengals (2nd team all-state basketball team as a junior).  As a senior LB he 122 total tackles (8.0 sacks) with 2 INTs, and over his HS career he caught 81 passes for 909 yds and scored 16 TDs on ohfense.   Although he’s a true freshman, Lander enrolled early and got to participate in 2022 spring camp, he is hopeful he can get meaningful playing time in 2022, his first year with the Utes.  Based on HS performance and his family legacy that could actually happen.

      #20 Jett Meine, Freshman WR, 6-0, 214

Jett is a product of Corner Canyon HS in Draper, Utah where he recorded 75 catches for 1,450 yards (19.3 ypc) and 15 TDs his senior season.  He tallied 6 games with over 100 yards receiving for the Chargers.  Jett accepted a perferred walk-on position for the Utes over 7 other D-1 offers, including Ivy League offers from Dartmouth and Harvard.   As a first-year walk-on I expect he may redshirt in 2022, and with hard work grow into a scholarship position.
