ParticipantFirst of all this is not a dig on the Utes. I have a legitimate question regarding our recruiting. We currently have five commits for the 2020 season. This ranks us at 116 out of 150. Just for perspective Clemson and Alabama, who are one and two respectively are at 20 and 22 commits. TDS has 15 commits and is at 77 on the list. We graduate a ton of players at the end of this season. Anyone have any idea why our number of commits are so low? I know there is talk that Utah hits it hard in December. It just worries me that we may miss out on some opportunities, that whole early bird getting the damn worm thing.

ParticipantDude, this question comes up every year. Just watch what happens. It’s part of the strategy. Wait and see.

ParticipantThey always seem to make it work but I was just surprised to see how far down the list we were.

ParticipantWe were in the 90s last year at this time, if memory serves. We will jump. It will be fine.

ParticipantHey douchenozzle, go look at last year’s posts of yours at this time in re recruiting. You know, the one where you bitched an moaned that we were 90th. Then we got one of our better classes ever. Yeah, that’ll happen again.

ParticipantUtah is holding their offers and commits back so that ASU doesn’t come through and offer everyone that Utah offers the next day.

ParticipantThere is no question that Utah has a rep for being able to spot potential, once we start going after a kid it is a signal for others to do the same. If you can keep that under your hat why wouldn’t you.

ParticipantIt must be a strange conversation the coaches have with prospects.
I need you to commit right now and don’t say a word, don’t answer the phone, radio silence.
Bascally, We’ll only offer if you committ and stay quite – without any opportunity to entertain offers.
I just don’t see a lot of 4 star players accepting this from a program like Utah. I think what you’ll get it a bunch or “Rudys”

ParticipantI really don’t know what is going on. But, with all of the losses we will have this season, I do think there is some reason for concern. However, I am not going to waste any time worrying about it right now. I am concerned about USC a week from Friday.

ParticipantI wouldn’t be worried at all, we are almost a decade in the PAC 12 and its been the same story every year, we will be fine.

ParticipantThe transfer portal adds a new element. So, in some cases it might be best to wait.

ParticipantHalf the teams above us have a load of 3 star folks that would be happy to instead upgrade to Utah. Average rating is more useful than sum of ratings. So many of the good recruits come to us at the end. There are the occasional early recruit like Tuttle, however Utah’s class really does not come together until November and December. And yes, there will be many better options in the portal than the low 3s that some like the Y have got committed. If Utah does as well as expected, they will prefer folks that show the late interest. Utah is in a good spot.
