We have gone 6-3 in Pac-12 play before and ended up in the Vegas Bowl. However, that year our losses were to 3 other Pac-12 South Teams (USC, AZ, and UCLA). How did we only score 9 points against UCLA? Unbelievable.
I also hate how the Pac-12 lets bowls select the “next best” team “within one conference loss of each other.” With all the teams ending up around 3 or 4 losses, it basically lets the bowls pick their participants. I understand the Big 10 assigns their teams. We should do the same based upon conference record and a series of tiebreakers.
Even this year Utah could be passed up by a number of bowls given the “within one conference loss” BS. Just win the CCG and ensure the Rose Bowl.
