Just so everyone can read the reaction on CB… remarkable. Truly remarkable. I have never seen a meltdown quite like this.

      Some nuggets:

I’m crying inside. Absolutely brutal. We have lost 2 4* kids to Utah in 5 days.

BYU has ceased to be an appealing destination for elite LDS kids. Absolutely brutal what is taking place right now. They are absolutely murdering BYU. My goodness.

If you look at Utah it’s very appealing for a top level LDS kid…. just enough Lds students to make for a pretty decent lds lifestyle, especially compared to other extremely liberal institutions, with out the extreme HC compliance issues. P5 inclusion with games against top competition in some awesome venues. Experienced successful coaching… it’s almost a no brainer.

Kyle may very well go down as the architect of 2 things1) BYU’s ultimate fade from relevance2) The permanent presence of big-boy football in the state of Utah. We may get to see what the very best of the LDS recruiting crop can accomplish on a national stage when assembled together. But they’ll be doing it in Crimson. Kyle first figured out how to defend BYU. He learned how to recruit against BYU. He’s mastered beating BYU and is in the final process of burying us.

So you are admitting we are now the Little Brother…sadly, I agree

Two reasons…1) Recent honor code treatment. Handed our competitors the best recruiting tool ever. 2) Fading hope for winning and limited player development (inexperienced coaches who are still learning how to do their jobs, let along develop them to get to the NFL). Add that to no P5 status, and it isn’t a hard decision. Beginning of several more. Many on this board will defend ultra low football standards (the disaster with our offensive staff), and ironically defend unrealistically high honor code standards. That, my friends, is something that most NFL caliber kids will want no part of. Tom Petty: “Free falling”

We have our hubris and an opportunistic, well-managed in-state foe (who’s bent on our destruction) to thank.

Wow, I actually agree with all these points. Especially love Whit as the architect of the dismantling of tds as a program. Brilliant. Also homage to Tom petty there is clever.

Offers from USC, Washington, Washington Sate, and Wisconsin.  Mika Tafua was BYU’s highest rated recruit of their 2015 class.

It’s not Whittingham that’s been the “architect” of their irrelevance, it’s been their own egos. From their expansion of Cougar Stadium back in ’81 to their decision to go independent ’10. It’s been a slow ride down, sure they had some blips (’84, ’96) but never really sustained any National relevance. Their egos built a 65,000 (are you friggin’ serious?!) stadium with the dream that the Pac-10 would be calling at any moment. Then their ‘knee-jerk’ reaction to go independent, thinking they could sale ‘being on ESPN every week, playing Brand Name competition’ to recruits was going to keep them competitive. Problem with that is you actually have to win those games and on a regular basis. If they want to blame Whittingham, fine. But maybe those dick-bags should look in the mirror and take all the blame.
