For the baseball fans out there, which is more impressive an accomplishment?

Ronald Acuña Jr. of Atlanta hitting 40 home runs and stealing 70 bases in a single season (2023)…

      Or

Shohei Ohtani hitting 50 home runs and stealing 50 bases in a single season (2024)?

A few more stats to consider from both players seasons:

      Acuña 2023
      – .337 batting average
      – 106 RBI’s
      – only 84 strike outs (in 643 at bats)

      Ohtani 2024
      – .301 batting average
      – 123 RBI’s
      – 161 strike outs (in 614 at bats, with 5 more games to play)

Shohei brought in 123 runs (with 5 games to play, that could increase significantly). IOW, his bat helped his team more than Acuna’s did. Perhaps that is a simplistic way of looking at it, but I like Ohtani and know who he is, and I don’t even remember who Acuna plays for so…

No offense Chinngis, but if you don’t know who Ronald Acuña Junior is, you’re really not a baseball fan.

He’s arguably one of the best 3 or 4 players in the game when healthy (right there with Ohtani, Judge, et al).

50/50 – It just sounds more impressive. But I haven’t followed MLB for a couple of decades now, so what do I know?

Not comparing who is the better player between the two, just comparing which one had the best season / individual performance.

Power is more impressive than speed
      Ask any girl

70 HRs and 40 SBs way better than 50/50

So I think Otahni has the better year

Both amazing. Runs scored also might play in a little. 70 stolen bases should produce more runs scored however 10 more home runs is 10 more runs scored. Great question uterule. If Ohtani was pitching it would be a no brainer. Acuna is a good defensive player so I might have to give the nod to Acuna based on over all production.

Otahni has scored 129 runs vs Acuna 149 runs in 2023.
