10…9…ignition sequence start… #9 Elijah Davis and Tavion Thomas
9 Tavion Thomas, Junior RB, 6-2 238
Thomas was Pac-12 All Conference first team in 2021 as a result of leading the Utes in rushing with 204 carries for 1108 yds (5.4 ypc) and 21 TDs (a Utah RB season record). This year he may get more recognition on the national level especially if he has a good showing in nationally visible games such as at Florida and when USC comes to SLC. He has been named to the preseason Doak Walker, Walker Camp, and Maxwell watchlists. He’s also on watchlists for College Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Year and Pro Football Network’s Top 100 College Football Players. He was named to Pro Football Network’s Pre-Season Honorable Mention All-American, Athlon All-American Third Team, Pac-12 Pre-Season All-Conference First Team. Let’s hope he continues achieving and meets these high expectations in 2022.
Elijah is a newcomer from Auburndale Senior HS in Winter Haven, Florida. At Auburndale Elijah logged 40 tackles, three INTs (with an amazing 150 return yards, 50 yds per return), 8 passes defended and two fumbles recovered in his senior year. He’s a fast, electric player and Utah coaches believe he is capable of contributing right away. As a newcomer it will be interesting to see how that pans out.
