ParticipantIf BYU loses to Kansas tonight, I don’t think BYU would go to the conference championship. They have to play Arizona State next week and they are looking scary. Kansas is also looking really good right now. If they lose these 2 games, it would put BYU 4th in the standings and Arizona State and Colorado would play for the B12 title.

ModeratorYou’re fine. You’re playing the best team ball in the conference. You’ll be there at the end. I’d be rooting for you, except I hate your fan base. 😉

ParticipantI didn’t realize how high in the CFP pecking order BYU was at #6. Sorry I don’t think they are that good! They will run into a brick wall. No doubt they have a good team, BUT they are not #6 good.
I believe the handful of teams behind them would take them to the woodshed.

ParticipantThis gets to what rankings are supposed to be. Is it a reflection of resume and accomplishment? Or of which team is the best?
Reality is that if Alabama played BYU, every metric would favor Alabama. They’re probably the better team. But BYU has the better resume based on pulling out a few miracle wins. Which is why BYU is higher.
And ultimately, that’s the right way to do it. It should be one who has the best on-field results, not who is probably actually subjectively better

ParticipantI’m with Krindor on this—it’s not exactly a hot take to say BYU probably isn’t one of the top teams in the country right now. I’d put them more in the 13-20 range. That said, you have to respect their on-field results. In a sport as vast as college football, where not every team can face each other, rankings have to be based on resumes.
That being said, I think most BYU fans recognize the team would likely get blown out in the first round of the playoffs, assuming they make it that far. Honestly, I’m not even confident BYU could take down Kansas at this point.

ParticipantIt would really be a shame.

ParticipantIt’s been a surreal season for both fan bases. My byu fan friends are still trying to temper expectations.

ParticipantAnd they’ll probably lose next weekend as well. ASU is looking like the real deal.

ParticipantCheering for Scum or Poo Poo. I just will abstain from rude comments but I wouldn’t be sad to see the ground cave in and swallow both teams.
