Tennessee at 9 based purely on hype

Pretty much, but they have an insane amount of talent on that team. It’s mind boggling that they haven’t been able to play better.

Right. I am well aware of the amount of talent. But a top 10 ranking is insanely generous

SEC media bias IMO. You gotta shove teams up there that are in the SEC to pad the eventual sec winner.

It truly is. There is only one or two teams in the P12 that can come from nowhere and garner a top 10 preseason ranking.

Butch Jones is doing a hell of a job in Tennessee. 5-7, 7-6, 9-4. I think they will win the SEC East and give someone a hell of a game in the SEC championship. Tennessee is very much for real.

if only showing a steady improvement in record and on the field talent was enough for us to garner even a spot. Just saying, being handed a top 10 ranking without really doing anything in particular (other than being everyones favorite up and comer) makes me gag.

Tennessee may end up being a great team but how are the Utes always outside of the preseason top 25 year after year?? Link

A lot of mysteries and unknowns… But it’s where you finish, not where you start.

Agreed but there is a built in advantage to starting the year higher in the polls…
