ParticipantOkay just a question and I would appreciate others thoughts. Arizona has struggled giving up penalties all year. Utah has been good/great for years. Will Arizona be able to clean up penalty errors with a buy week?
So far here are the AZ numbers and Utahs for reference.
Arizona:
New Mexico – 9 penalties for 74 yards
NAU – 10 penalties for 95 yards
Kansas St – 9 penalties for 100 yardsUtah:
SUU – 6 penalties for 55 yards
Baylor – 8 penalties for 71 yards
Ut St – 1 penalty for 15 yards
Oklahoma St – 3 penalties for 21 yards -

ParticipantSometimes this sort of thing can just be an indication of how lenient or strict officials called particular games. But averaging close to 10 a game seems a bit sloppy and/or undisciplined to me.

ParticipantNot with the MUSS yelling in their ears on third down. I honestly think we have one of the best student sections for helping the other team get false starts on third down.

ParticipantShould I be concerned that the Utes are committing significantly more penalties at home than on the road? I can’t imagine that is typical.

ParticipantI’d think they had more penalties at home simply because they were the first two games of the season, not because of the location.

ParticipantThat certainly seems like the most plausible explanation! I just thought it was a funny correlation.
To the OP, I have loved how clean the Utes have played lately! I remember how surprised I was last game when they announced the first penalty against Utah late in the 2nd or early in the 3rd quarter.

ParticipantDepending on the crew I think. Big12 hired a bunch of p12 guys. I noticed the worst head ref from the P12 had the TSPP game.

ParticipantI thought our Baylor game was officiated like it was a pac 12 crew.

ParticipantNo way, Pac12 ref would have upheld targeting

ParticipantI think they’ll continue racking up the penalty yards. Utah’s physical play will frustrate them even more and clearly they are penalty prone.
