Because I think it’s the best possible hire you guys could have made, and because I think he’s finally going to restore your men’s basketball program to what it has the potential to be. I really think he will have the curtains permanently banned within two years, because I think he will reinvigorate the fanbase and donors, and the Hunstman Center will be rocking.

I hate it. But congratulations because he is an awesome coach and human being and will turn your program around. And I think the basketball rivalry will experience some incredible games over the next 5-6 years.

      Congrats on an awesome hire.

Thanks McMahon. I think Jensen will create some major changes. In state recruiting, player development and team play. It might take a couple years to get his system in place but it will be fun to watch. Bring in Miller as an assistant to work with the guards (actually recruit a guard). I’m excited to say the least.

I wonder if C. Smith would have been fired if the Y had not hired Kevin Young. You get an NBA guy and a big bump in NIL, we get an NBA guy withe hopefully some bump in NIL. Seems like a direct response to me. Made firing Smith more urgent.

Remember, AJ was an NBA guy 4 years ago when we courted him & that was long before the zoobs had ever even heard of Jelly.

We didn’t offer him the job 4 years ago. After Young arrived, we did.

            What difference does that make?

He was a candidate, before removing his name himself before being offered….The offer was inevitable had he kept his name involved.

The concept existed 4 years before it existed for the zoobs.

I might be wrong but Young is going after the one and done. Playing an NBA style offense and defense to prepare a couple of superstars for the NBA. Calipari did it with success at Kentucky.

I think Jensen will use a Majerus type approach with local talent and players that fit the system and play vital roles. Hopefully we can attract some NBA talent and develop them under Jensen and hopefully Millers help. Different blue prints with similar coaching backgrounds.

If you dont see the difference I cant explain it. Seems pretty obvious to me. He removed his name four years ago becasue he want going to be offered the job. It wasnt his to turn down. Now it is and the timing has a lot to do with Young, IMHO.

I don’t think it has much to do with Young. Only that the two coaches share that in common before (potentially) sharing CURRENT job similarity.

I think preference for Jensen has, for better or worse, WAY more to do with Majerus and Utah’s recruiting nuances than Young.

If this was so much about Young, why are the other rumored interview candidates aside from Jensen NOT also NBA assistants? Pitino? Pastner?

Of course BYU fans are going to make this about them. They always do. But I’d think a Ute fan would see that there really isn’t a similarity of motivation, only of circumstance. If Jensen was a college assistant today, he’d STILL be the leading candidate. It’s just his time if that’s what he wants.

AJ removed his name four years ago because he wasn’t going to be offered? What? Where’s the evidence of this? Honestly, this sounds made up.
