ParticipantWho does Colorado bring in to replace Deion when he takes the Raiders or Cowboys job?

ParticipantSomeone far worst is my presumption.

ParticipantI would say they would need to bring in with someone with name recognition. Someone like a Dan Mullen, Bronco Mendenhall. Or give someone like a Tosh Lapoi.

ParticipantColorado is royally screwed if Sanders leaves now. One, every decent available head coach is spoken for. Two, there’s no coach out there that brings the combination of star power and ability to relate to young black athletes in one package. Three, every player either present now in Colorado or incoming will jet to another destination. I could easily see Colorado as a 2-10 team next season if Prime leaves.

ParticipantMike MacIntyre got fired by FIU at the end of the season. 😆, maybe he’s willing to give the Colorado HC gig another try?

ParticipantMaybe we can get Joseph Williams to recommit.

ParticipantIf he leaves, they’re f**ked. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. They are totally f**ked and headed back to being the dumpster fire they were for years. Is there anybody out there with the same appeal especially considering recruiting? No. That’s why it’s rumored they offered him a huge extension. Here’s hoping he leaves.

ParticipantWhat about Eric Bieniemy?

ParticipantThis one I could see. Former player and assistant coach there, has a long and mostly successful coaching resume. He doesn’t have the same hype that Deion brought but he is probably the closest they could realistically bring in.
The other candidate I could see would be Jay Hill. Not a splashy hire, but he would be a good hire. And Hill would likely take it, if offered. With Sitake and Scalley being so young, he isn’t likely to get either of those jobs anytime soon. Utah State went with someone in the twilight of his coaching career over Hill, so no point in holding out for that job, not to mention it’s G5.

ParticipantThis hire would get my thumbs up because it would be an absolute and total disaster. I mean, there’s a reason why Bienemy hasn’t ever gotten a sniff of a head coaching job and why his stock drops further down every season. Why would anyone give him a job when he was just fired as the OC of a 5-7 UCLA team?

ParticipantReturn to Colorado
On December 2, 2010, Bieniemy returned to Colorado as offensive coordinator under head coach Jon Embree. Bieniemy was offered the head coach position in 2020 at Colorado but he declined. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_BieniemyI seem to recall Colorado wasn’t too happy with his time there with Embree, though apparently they offered him the job. Would he take it this time?
His Chiefs stint was good, but would his Commanders and UCLA performance be enough?

ParticipantAt this point, I think he would take it. When he turned it down in 2020, I think he had his heart set on becoming an NFL head coach. Five years later and I think he can see that ain’t gonna happen, so college might be his only shot to be the head man.

ParticipantPerhaps the Rattlesnake wants another go in Boulder?
-
MotherJabubu
ParticipantI would guess they would try and replicate Deion with some flashy former player “player’s coach” type that will send their program back to the abyss where it belongs

ParticipantIf he does leave I’ll bet you see over 50 players hit the portal in Boulder. They aren’t there for CU. They’re there for Sanders.
As far as a new coach goes they have to shoot the moon. Urban, Saban, Kingsbury maybe Orgeron…after that you go after former NFL players in the coaching ranks.
