Can the ground cause a fumble if you are untouched? I just watched the replay that is a catch all day going to ground several steps later isn’t incomplete IMO.
Didn’t see the play in question but I’m fairly certain in the NFL that the ground can cause a fumble if the ball carrier isn’t touched. I suppose in the right circumstance it could also cause a fumble in college ball, but it would have to be a play that didn’t involve the player going to the ground. Possibly trying to keep his balance by placing his hand – with the ball – on the ground, and losing it?
