Imagine a world where Alabama had to play another conference game instead of getting New Mexico at the end of the season to rest up. The pac-12 needs to drop to 8 conference games until the SEC stops being such pussies!

        Alabama’s OOC schedule:

Miami (7-5), “neutral” site game in Atlanta. 202.3 miles from Tuscaloosa
        Mercer (7-3), home v FCS
        Southern Mississippi (3-9), home
        New Mexico State (2-10), home

There is not another school in the country that would be allowed to benefit from that schedule.

Disagree. BIG, Pac-12, Big XII, Notre Dame and 1/3 of the ACC play 9 conference games. That’s the majority of P5s. Having Georgia or Alabama play another scrub in the SEC is not going to change the fact that the top teams in the SEC more often than not are the best in the nation. Crying about 8 conference games is just that. Sack up and beat the best if you want to be the best.

Additionally, 9 conference games is much better college football experience for me year in and year out as a Pac-12 fan.

The new scheduling alliance is supposed to make up for moving to an 8 game conference schedule. I think it will be more of a novelty without actual impact since there are a lot of P5 teams that won’t move the needle in a given year.

For example in 2021 an 8 game schedule for Utah would have meant 1 less north team. Let’s assume that it was Stanford that went off the schedule and was replaced by Duke. Both 3-9 teams. Everyone wants to assume that they will get the great games against Clemson or Ohio State but it could just as easily be Rutgers or Syracuse.

Other than getting Utah a true P5 OOC opponent instead of the parochial school, I don’t see the alliance being the gamechanger that it was presented as.
