Dan Sorenson mentioned that he expects Bernard to start camp in the second week. Likely will need time to pick up the system so won’t start. But will be a 3rd or 4h backer.

I really hope he is eligible. He could really be the X factor in the Stanford game. I don’t know if we will run a 4-3 against them, but to have three 6 foot 230 pound LB’s would be a huge advantage for gap integrity.

Better than nothing, always good to have depth at that position and given his natural talents maybe he will be able to work his way quickly up the depth chart to 2 or 1.

Yep. This is because classes at SLCC don’t wrap up until the end of this week so grades won’t be posted until early next week. If all goes well he could be in camp by the end of next week.

How can that be, a transfer from such an academically elite university having eligibility problems at Utah?

Ha ha. There is more to the story than that. It basically boils down to because Kalani screwed him over in the way he was released, he has to have an Associate’s Degree to transfer to another school. So, he has to have a degree, while most transfers just need to be admitted and sit out a year.

Had Kalani released him in August when he wanted to be released, he would have been on the team all last year, and ready to go right now, instead of having to do all this academic stuff.

One more example of how shady Kalani is and why I want nothing to do with him when he is fired at BYU.

            Hear hear!

The way Kalani handled Bernard’s release is contradictory to everything he said about the Tukuafu transfer from USU and the comments he has made regarding the new transfer rule which prevents coaches from blocking athlete transfers to certain schools.

Yeah, another example of Kalani’s ineptitude. Kyle handles it much better. Kyle doesn’t say he’d release anyone at anytime to get a kid into his program. Kyle says, “well, it’s a tough situation and we handle it on a case by case scenario.”

BUT, all that is moot now, because I do believe the new NCAA rule doesn’t allow coaches to block players anymore.

Looking better each day but not certain yet…taking 5 classes and it’s kicking his butt.  A few weeks ago he had a major uphill climb IMO.  That gap has been closed significantly in 4 of the 5 classes so fingers crossed he takes care of that last grade!!
