Micah Bernard, one of Utah's RB's who had 523 yds rushing and 251 yds receiving during the reg season, led the defense in the Rose Bowl in both solo (9) and total (10) tackles while playing corner for the 1st time in his collegiate career. Oh, he also caught a TD in the game. pic.twitter.com/RPBYSo8Vea
I am grateful for what Bernard did. He played his heart out. The tackling stats are a bit skewed given the fact he was picked on all night. He had to give so much cushion that it was pitch and catch all day on his side.
Had the Utes hung on he would have been the MVP. That was the most selfless, gutsy effort a player could have made and there is no doubt that he knew it wasn’t going to be pretty going in but he balled out to the best of his abilities.
