ParticipantBig XII is WAY outperforming the SEC so far in the tournament. Loves to see that

ParticipantBased on what? In the only two games where a big 12 team played an SEC team they split them 1-1.

Participantbased on wins and percentage overall, not head to head.

ParticipantOnly B12 loss so far is Kansas. Who’d have thunk that before the season started.
So Far the SEC is 9-7 as of tonight’s games, with Tennessee currently leading fUCLA in the second half.
The Big12 is now 9-1.

ParticipantIsn’t it interesting how realignment has changed our attention on other teams? It used to be we also kept track of teams like UCLA USC Oregon Stanford etc. Now I have zero interest tracking how those teams are doing – and instead now we’re following teams like TT Houston Baylor Iowa State and others.
So weird how realignment has done that in such a short period of time.

ParticipantI’m still not too into the big 12. I was almost immediately into the Pac 12 and felt a genuine “back the pac” sentiment.
I don’t know why I seem to dislike the big 12 schools and don’t even really feel part of them. I know I need to embrace it because I don’t think we’re going anywhere for a while, but I don’t feel a brotherhood with this new group yet.

ModeratorThere are no blue bloods to beat in this conference. It makes it hard to get excited about any of the games (for me, anyway).

ParticipantMy guess is you are mostly talking about football. If so, you are right. There are no real elite teams in the XII.
In basketball, however, there are several.
That’s probably another reason why I’ve been receptive to the change: I value college basketball more than I value college football. And through a basketball lens, going from the Pac to the XII was a major upgrade. In football, it was a clear downgrade.

ParticipantThat’s definitely understandable. I think a good share of Utah fans would feel the same.
I’ve been able to make the switch, partly because some of our mates are easy for me to like. On top of that, I now have even more contempt for USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington because they killed the Pac 12 for nothing more than a bigger check to overpay coaches and players. I look at schools like that and I think it’s elements like them that are mostly to blame for the current chaotic atmosphere of collegiate athletics.

ParticipantI’m the opposite of that. I have a ton of animosity towards most of the P12 schools so from day one I struggled to root for them and feel like a part of the conf. I used to have no issue outside of BYU rooting for any MWC/WAC teams, but I just never felt it with the PAC. I’m back in the saddle now, and have even softened my stance on Kansas now that we are Big12

ParticipantHonestly, I don’t keep track of anything related to the Big 12. I personally don’t feel any connection to those schools and that’s never going to change. It’s unfortunate but that’s just the way it is. In fact, I feel way more of a connection to other schools in the Mountain West (like Utah State, Wyoming, Colorado State, etc..) than anything related to the Big 12 barring the Arizona schools and Colorado. Case in point, the only road trip I have planned for next season is when we play Wyoming. I have zero interest in going to Texas or Oklahoma or Kansas or West Virginia or Orlando (maybe that one is different since I’m from Florida) or Cincinnati, etc…I’m just holding on and hoping I live long enough to see the next wave of expansion where Utah is affiliated with western teams.

ParticipantI agree in a sense that I can’t bring myself to keep track of or cheer the Big 12 schools, aside from the Arizonas and CU. However, I must admit a large group of us attended the football game in Stillwater last season, and those fans were amazing. From their kindness and welcoming ways to the atmosphere, it was one of the best road trips I recall. To be fair, I never felt that sort of welcome in any Pac12 visits, and I attended games at every school over the years. People were nice enough, and fine, but not a lot of excitement for the most part (just the Oregon and wsu schools) Our large group will be attending the football game in Morgantown this season (along with Wyoming and Provostan), so it will be interesting to see how Morgantown and West Virgina fans compare to Stillwater and OK State fans. Aside from WV, I have zero desire to attend a game at UCF, Cincinnati, Kansas, K State, Texas Tech, Houston, Iowa State (I have been to Ames, horrible smelly place with nothing to do), or whoever else is in the big12.
