ParticipantThis is how it’s going to be. The blue bloods will pick and choose which players they want, and just buy them.
CFB is sooooooooo f**ked.

ParticipantWell he isn’t leaving for lack of playing time.
-
ProudUte
ParticipantWell, he will only punt about 25% as much as he did here.
This has to be all about money.

ParticipantHe’s a grad transfer. Could be lots of reasons, more money, different grad programs, wanted a change of scenery. One thing I won’t miss is his occasional 30yd shank punts

ParticipantIs grad transfer really a thing anymore? Yes, he graduated, so that’s good (Cam still hasn’t after 7 years!), but before, we thought grad transfer was good because they could play right away. Now, every transfer can play right away, a court ruling I think was stupid and has created a lot of this mess. Want to transfer and get NIL? Great, but you have to sit out a year.

ParticipantDoesn’t mean anything as far as play time or eligibility anymore but it does mean he’s walking from Utah with a degree and has to enroll in a grad program.
This isn’t the case with Utah/Jack but Stanford football still loses a lot of Sr’s because of this (Utah has benefited from it some) They can’t continue to play football at Stanford unless they get into a grad program, and their admissions don’t care how good they are at fooball

ParticipantDataUte, regarding your side comment about Cam in parentheses- stating that “Cam still hasn’t (graduated) after 7 years”- is that “a lie, a damn lie, or a viscous lie (attributed to Twain who credited Disraeli)? “ Yes, “statistic” was the original 3rd lie type.

ParticipantI doubt we had any extra money for a punter. He has a chance to make some$$ and play in the SEC and a possible playoff run. Can’t blame him.

ParticipantWe can’t be getting p**sed when players leave to bigger schools. The portal takes and gives. We can’t be p**sed he’s going to Texas for more money and then celebrate Dampier when we gave him more money than New Mexico and more exposure.

ParticipantI’m sorry, but I’m p**sed off at the whole system. It’s made the sport unrecognizable, and it’s unsustainable.

ProudUte
ParticipantI would give you ten thumbs-up checks if I could.

ParticipantI can only hope that fans will pressure the NCAA (or possibly legislative intervention) to create some sort of correction in the next couple of years. I can definitely envision a salary cap for the school contributions, and perhaps some sort of combined cap for all $$ associated with a team and/or a requirement that there be a demonstrable quid pro quo for NIL that minimizes the uncontrolled collective $$ (ie, you get paid to be in a commercial, be in a video game, sign merch, but you can’t get paid just to be there).
I’m even cool with something like the Ken Garff truck lease thing, as it had some tangible upside for the donor (the trucks were plastered with Garff logos).
-
Rick Walker
ParticipantThe actual trucks didn’t have Ken Graff logos, that was a wrap for the unveiling. Nobody actually had that wrap on their truck they drove.

ParticipantWe trained him up with the most reps a punter will see in a year.
