Bowl Eligibility

Sorry if already raised recently – but can someone remind me/explain to me the Pac’s bowl elgibility rules this year? Do we need to win out to make a bowl. 

And please don’t tell me that we don’t deserve a bowl, that’s not the point of the question. I ask because:

1. Bowl season is always better when the Utes are playing 

2. Would be great to have that extra couple of week so of practice

The NCAA rules are that everyone is bowl eligible this year regardless of record. The PAC 12 rules have been for a few years that you need a .500 record to go bowling. So Utah can lose one more game and still be eligible. Assuming they play the rest of their games.

There are also going to be fewer bowls that have PAC 12 tie ins this year so that may make it harder to get into one.

I’d love to have another game just for the reps, but the conference has already lost three bowls…

I believe four of the bowls with Pac-12 tie-ins have been cancelled. This is a season of scrimmages.

Getting into a bowl game this year would be hugely beneficial in terms of extra practice time.
