BYU has a strength of record at #3 or 4 but still behind Indiana, Tennessee, Penn St, Miami. I will agree with you Ute fans that the B12 gets zero respect nationally, even though it is ranked #2 in conference power rankings by Saragin. The only way BYU gets to the playoff is to win the Big 12 championship game. They go 12-0 and lose in championship game they will get left out.
Boise is going to steal the Big 12 top 4 playoff seeding.

Well after Saturday the majority of the heavy lifting is over for them . They control they’re own destiny and should win out imo.

There’s a reason Utah fans want a B1G invite… BYU should be posturing the same, for when the 2 conferences in power break off. The other option is have enough eyeballs on the non B1G/SEC teams, but it’s not happening

Honestly these rankings are dumb, don’t rank the teams in some random order based on what you think if it doesn’t reflect the playoff format. BYU should automatically be number 4 (at least) just because of the playoff rules. This is literally just another AP poll.

They’re dumb but it’s basically saying if BYU (or Iowa state) are the big 12 champ at 12-1, Boise could get that #4 spot. Lots of disrespect by the committee toward the big 12

4 B1G 4 SEC 1 BIG12 1 ACC ND and G5. Thanks but I’m f**king done with college football if that’s where we live.
I’ll live with approximately
3 SEC
3 B1G
2 BIG 12
2 ACC 1 G5 and 1 Whatever year in and year out but f**k no to the rest.I’ve probably watched 150 less hours of CFB this year because 1) utah sucks and 2) big12 games are both not on primetime slots but beyond that also not a bunch of storied teams and the conference dynamics being what they are don’t make it interesting. As an aside it’s a tragedy that the 2 most marquee names OSU and Utah look like dog s**t this year given that it’s the first of this frankenstein of a conference but that said I’m out. I hate the B1G and other than some amount of mild chuckles at Texas causing heartburn for SEC teams I’m really 10000000% down on college football this year. I don’t like the product.

Wow. I didn’t even realize how much I didn’t care about this until I found out about it.

I think the rankings are about right. Boise played #1 Oregon very well losing by only 3 points on the road- about as well as Ohio St. did. The Zoobs are ranked in the same range as 1-loss Tennessee and Notre Dame- who would bet on the Zoobs to beat either of them? Not me thank you.
The bottom line is that the Zoobs play in a 2nd tier conference and still control their own destiny. If they win out they are in the playoff. They are ranked about right and if you take NIL out of the equation, college football is more fair than it has ever been.
2nd place B12 teams are going to be on the bubble for a 12-team playoff every year. Who would argue that on any given year, the 2nd place B12 team is a top-10 team in the nation. Almost no one. So that team being on the bubble is about right.
The Zoobs are having a banner year and if they remain undefeated will pocket a legitimate national championship. I wouldn’t hold my breath but would love to be in their place.
The fact that we suck this year makes it painful but that is how the cookie crumbles.

When Texas and OU left, the Big12 became the MWC 2.0. I think BYU has a really good football team and playing the best football in the Big12, but I don’t think they are as good as any top 15 team in the polls. Half the Big12 teams on their schedule have losing records. They almost lost to Ok St. at home, Baylor and UCF really suck like Utah. Big12 really doesn’t have any strong teams. BYU hasn’t really had any stiff competition on their schedule because most of the teams suck. Unfortunately, the B1G and SEC are just a cut above the rest.
