Beating Utah is BYU’s only chance of salvaging their season.  They are desperate for this W and will play extremely aggressive and take a lot of chances.

That makes me nervous for a couple of reasons:

      1) Injuries due to cheap shots and aggressive play.  I just hope we make it out of this game unscathed – especially our skill players (Huntley, Carrington, Moss).

      2) Utah not matching their level of intensity and aggression.  If I’m a Utah player, it would be difficult to not underestimate BYU given their performance in their first two games.

BYU has nothing to lose and has been backed into a corner.  Their only way out is a W against Utah. That fact alone makes me nervous.

I agree with pretty much everything here, but I am confident that Whittingham will have the guys ready.

I hope Taylor goes after BYU-P and doesn’t let up and our D Line wreaks havoc on Tatum Mango.

Last night I felt like BYU had sustained a humiliating enough beat down that they wouldn’t recover, but now I feel more in line with this. They will be fired up, angry, and ready to make a last grasp at salvaging their season. If they don’t beat us, they ain’t beating Wisconsin the next week, and then they fade into irrelevant exhibition games for the 6th straight year. We need to come out, match their intensity and punch them in the mouth. if we have a lead at halftime I think the game will be over. They can’t keep up with us for a full 60 minutes, but they will come out swinging.

      You said it.

I am really worried about BYU’s potential to cause injuries. Hanneman’s targeting was a textbook example of a cheap shot. So victory margin big or small, just come out of this game unscathed please!

      Good analysis.

I like what I saw out of Utah on Thursday, but reminder this is Huntleys first start on the road. Additionally, BYU’s defense played okay, they have some talent on D. These games are always close. I expect the same.

Ironic. When I grew up as a young Ute fan the byu game was our super bowl.

Yep.  Times have changed and it’s left a lot of BYU fans very confused and disoriented.  Many of these confused fans still cling to the notion that BYU is a better football program than Utah.  It’s quite sad.

Utah’s the FAR SUPERIOR program presently. Like, more than Ohio State is superior to Michigan. Utah simply is better and will win because of it. Utah’s more athletic, deeper, and simply more talented, which makes sense due to our superior recruiting and coaching. I like Utah to win 35-10.
