      I thought the same thing. I guess they were thinking that recruiting opens up tomorrow, but still odd to do it in the middle of recruiting.

      That is odd. Isn’t that going to cost them like $14mm due to the way his contract is structured?

      EDIT – apparently only $5.8mm. I must have been thinking of UCLA.

        Chip Kelly is the best coach that is available. I would be very surprised if Cal doesn’t try to get him. There are rumors that Najee Harris was looking at switching his commitment from Alabama to Cal. I wonder if this coaching change has anything to do with that.

          Cal seems like a great spot for Kelly.  They have talent there.
