ParticipantI’d take him back in a heartbeat. He showed a lot of upside. He seems to have better odds than anybody else we’ve had of becoming that lockdown CB we’ve lacked over the past two years.
I’m guessing that he had a good NIL package from Utah until right before the transfer portal opened and then somebody offered him meaningfully more. Maybe we could still match or get closer and he could come back. I think it’s lame how he handled it leading up to the portal (like getting stabbed in the back, at least for a fan) and I think the system is broken, but I can’t fault a kid like this going after potentially life-changing money.

ParticipantI think someone wanting to be his agent got in his ear telling him he could make double if he went to the TP, without any actual offers to back it up.
Jake Murphy is offering to act on these kids’ behalfs for free because of all the shadyness going on in the TP this year. “agents” taking 20-30% on deals they try to line up for these kids

ParticipantEvery mother’s dream. Pay my son more he wants to stay. What’s next pay the moms so their sons will stay.

ParticipantI wonder how many of these players have no intentions on leaving but join the portal to get more NIL from their current team?

ParticipantThis – testing the market, but down deep, would rather stay if they can get that ‘value’.

ParticipantIf there was no consequence why wouldn’t every talented player test the market to see if they can make more. Can you imagine open free agency in the NFL. Time for a super league college football conference with contracts and salary caps.

ParticipantYes!!!
I want this so bad. I think every NFL player should be required to re-enter the draft for the first 4 years.
You are a bust QB that got picked 2nd? Let’s see where you land now? A rookie steal that had a breakout season, congrats on going in the first round with a bigger payday!!!
No longer stuck with your rookie contract for 4 years!!!
I mean, it’s only fair right? Teams are stealing from these players when they only make a million for the first 4 years while being a starter!!! They deserve to get their market value!!!

ParticipantSorry but this type of behavior that has people literally begging him to come back is extremely off putting. Desperate much? If you want to be here great, if not then don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Seriously people, have some self respect

ParticipantAgreed. I’d definitely welcome him back if I were whitt and our collective, but only at the NIL he was originally given. If he wants more or else he’s gone, then let him leave.
