Rising is an aggressive competitor, and thus likely targeting an aggressive rehabilitation period. That said, ACL tears take about 6-9 months of physical therapy before an athlete’s balance, strength, and endurance will be restored. He had surgery in January, so at the very soonest, he could take the field in time for Fall camp.
At the latest….midseason.
Utah opens the 2023 season at Home vs. Florida, then faces Baylor in Waco the following weekend. Rising clearly wants to be ready for these games, so all his confidence about being ready by game 1 is most likely just him projecting a “positive/can-do” attitude, because he truly “wants” to be ready. But “want” and “is” don’t always align, so at this early point in his rehab, just take it for it is — an aggressive, optimistic target date by a tough guy who doesn’t know how to quit.
