      See her sponsored twittering…

Has she ever kicked with a 3-step approach and 300 lb defenders charging at her?  Dumb.

Women can do everything that men can don’t you know.

A level playing field in all industries and sectors they say?

Let me know when women are held to the same physical fitness standards as the men in law enforcement, fire fighting, and our military.

They don’t really want equality they just want to have an outcome that is in their favor.

Do you believe United States is generally egalitarian?  Calling the outcome less fair or not what you want isn’t equality. That is dictatorship. You are dictating on what terms it should be equal.
All things being equal(which they ain’t)I don’t mind if she tried out for an NFL team. Let’s see if she can do it in three steps and also do kickoffs. That is generally what is required and they even have to be backup punters to some degree and make tackles.

But as @utethunder pointed out lowering a physical standard for a particular profession is done all of the time for females. Keep the physical standard the same and I doubt she could be an nfl kicker.

Now let’s apply the same analysis to the millions of professional women in the US who get paid less than their their male counterparts for the exact same work, shall we?

For the record, I think that ad was stupid trolling to get attention, and bad form. If Lloyd has the skills, then let her try out and see if she can earn the job. But to entirely dismiss the very real gender pay gap and lack of opportunity for women (especially women of color) over an ad is equally as stupid.

Thatā€™s a market decision though for the athletics. They are t part of the same org. Their org makes far less money. Get them into the NBA or MLS and theyā€™d get the same pay as theyā€™d be part of the players association subject to the CBA.

I have never been paid more than my female counterparts. I have worked in three different professional fields. I have been passed over because of my genitalia for promotions and distinctions however. Because of the bent “equality of outcome” that they seek.
As far as Women’s professional athletes being paid less than Men. Yes let’s equalize it. Let’s give all Hollywood actors and Professional athletes equal pay regardless of competency or ability. It would be an interesting experiment honestly with the 1% earners.

So you think the gender wage gap isn’t a real thing?

Your personal anecdotal experience aside, there’s loads of research out there that would disagree with you on that.

It is. But to have a meaningful conversation we need to compare like things. Womenā€™s athletics ainā€™t it because they arenā€™t part of he same organization and arenā€™t doing the same work.

But that is huge problem with the wage gap myth. They compare it across all occupations on some statistical models. They remove things like dominance hierarchies or gender preferences. This is a classic example. Why shouldn’t she play in the nfl she can kick a 55 yarder??? (incorrectly and in a practice scenario).  Then she trolls my boy Gay as if he hasn’t made big time field goals??  Drive by journalism/media at it’s worst.  That is why people formulate this belief that it isn’t equal because they say so.

Wrong. They actually include all variables. These are very smart economists and data scientists that make these reports. Literally everything you said is wrong in regards to the topic.

The gender pay gap is NOT REAL!

If it were real, why would any business ever hire a man when they could supposedly hire women and pay them far less?

The equal pay act of 1963 makes it illegal to pay women less than men for the same job. If women everywhere are being paid less for the same work, why isn’t anyone investigating? How come nobody is in jail? How come nobody pays fines?

The studies that everyone uses to claim there is a gender pay gap don’t make any distinction between job type, full-time/part-time, years on the job, education, experience, etc. They just look at the average female salary and compare it to the average male salary and say look at the gender pay gap. It’s an apples to oranges comparison. When you take into consideration such factors and just compare job for job, women make the same amount as men.

You can’t compare a receptionist to an engineer and then say women get paid less. It is one of the most ridiculous claims being made today and it is incredibly mind blowing that so many just blindly believe that women get paid less than men for doing the same work.

Again, not at all what the reports and data science say. Nobody is comparing receptionist to engineers. You’re contents show ignorance to actual science and facts.

All things being equal which they ain’t show me a single statistical model that accounts for all of the factors? They can’t even agree on how to compute it. You know why?  Because the social sciences have been hijacked by idealogues for years.  Go ahead “bud” let an idealogy run your mind.

This is the problem with Utefans politics they start to degenerate into this. Your little dismissal and jab at my intelligence calling me bud. I ain’t your bud no matter how much you want to make yourself feel superior by ASSUMING you’re absolutely correct.

                      Okay.

By the way, this is data comparing male vs. female salaries for the EXACT SAME POSITION, not salaries in the aggregate (which seems to be the crux of your argument).

Interesting, your link shows a pay gap of only 4.9 percent as compared to the 20-30% that is claimed using the study methods I mentioned earlier. I can already see the gender pay gap disappearing. Imagine how much smaller it would get if they controlled for every factor and were comparing identical scenarios where the only difference was gender . . .

And while that study does control for such factors as education, employment history, and job title, it does NOT say that they controlled for YEARS ON THE JOB. This is yet another big factor in the supposed wage gap. Men are far more likely to enter the workforce and stay in it for their entire working life than are women who typically leave the workforce to have kids. That means men are earning increased raises during all of that time their female counterparts are out of the workforce raising kids.

Again I ask, if the gender pay gap is real, why would any business ever hire a man? Why is nobody in jail for violating the Equal Pay Act? It’s because the gender pay gap is not real.

So many factors. More women work part time, less hours and take leave if they choose to get pregnant.

You completely changed the argument here.  Not sure your point applies.  The discussing is on equality based on physicality and you changed it to compensation.  Apples and oranges IMO.

                  Fair enough.

As a father of a young daughter and having a wife who just re-entered the professional workforce last week after 10 years away, this whole “women don’t want equality, they only want something in their favor” idea has gotten under my skin more than a little bit.

Respectfully you missed my point. Outcome is least desirable thing to equalize in social sense. I am 💯 for equality options and it exists in this county more so than any other that has ever existed.

I watch Rugby and I doubt you meet many women who wish to compete in the men’s Rugby World cup going on right now because they can kick. But they do wish to be Law Enforcement and firefighters where they specifically lower the physical standard to recruit more women. That is a fact.
