Will be a Michigan Wolverine for his Senior season. Grad transfer who started 11 games last season. Guess he saw the writing on the wall but not exactly a great landing spot considering Michigan is stacked at CB. Good luck to him.

Awesome. Hughes goes to Michigan. Singleton to Texas or Texas tech. Stevie T goes to USC and gets the Rose Bowl MVP. Meanwhile, we do … what, exactly? Continue sucking back hole? Hey kids! Come to Utah for training to play in a REAL system!

Pretty much. Hughes would rather be a back up at Michigan than a back up at Utah…
If Utah was winning significant games or significant bowls these type of players just might stick around.

RiseasUtesParticipant
Michigan has lost 4 of their last 5 bowl games and to Utah twice in the last several years. Michigan has also lost 15 of their last 17 to Ohio St. Neither them or Texas have had more success than us lately.
We aren’t on their level as far as program prestige goes, but we are right there with both in recent success.

*three times in the past several years, if you want to count ‘08. In any case, we have a 3 game winning streak over UM.

Rise:
“Prestige” is the only thing Michigan runs on now. When was the last time Michigan won the NC? In fact, when was the time the Wolverines played in the NC game? Pathetic.
-
RiseasUtesParticipant
I agree, they are running on their name alone and I believe 97’ or 98’ was their last NC game. So we have had 2 major bowl wins since then, but nationally no one is looking at Utah like they do Michigan.

Michigan does have a lot in common with Utah though. Great coaches that extract the best out of players but generally underperform for weird reasons. Most would agree that Harbaugh is a top 5-10 coach in the nation. Most would agree that Whitt is a top 10-20 coach in the nation.
I would say that Michigan is underperforming specifically Harbaugh more so than Whitt. He has way more in the way of recruits, resources etc. Yet has underperformed relative to his pay.

Unquestionable under-performing. Give Whitt Harbaugh’s 2017 class and we’re talking about much bigger things than a Rose Bowl. 14 fours stars and 3 five stars. Harbaugh is trash! It’s not just under-performing relative to pay, it’s relative to EVERYTHING.

Last time I checked Michigan is the best public university in the nation. Hmm get a year of free mba tuition or whatever grad degree that is better than any grad program at the U. I am grateful for my U education, but that is because I couldn’t get into a school like UM.

UtesRockParticipant
I agree with you a Michigan MBA is actually worth something.

RickParticipant
Hughes didn’t start in 11 games last season. Where are you getting that stat from? He started a few games but Johnson, Blackman and Hobbs where the starters at CB and Nickle most of the year. Guidrey started a few games at Nickle too.

Rick:
“But he started 11 games at the corner position this past season and accounted for 35 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles and 1 pass breakup.”
Next time, read the article. Whether it’s correct or not doesn’t really matter at this point. He’s GONE!
