I think the following are locks: Oregon, Texas, Penn St, GA, ND, OSU, Tennessee, Indiana, and either ASU or ISU and with Boise or UNLV.

The only drama aside from the MWC and Big 12 is what happens if SMU loses to Clemson. Obviously, Clemson would be in.

That would leave one spot for either SMU or Ama. IMO, SMU should be a lock as they have only 1 loss compared to Bama’s 3 and Bama doesn’t have to play a 13th game. But we all know the committee will put Bama in.

You answered your own question. The “committee” is just looking for any excuse to insert Bama into the CFP. If SMU loses to Clemson, say hello to the Tide.

Yup. It’s way too obvious with the post-reveal narrative. It’s all about scenarios that get Bama in. Will Bama get in, won’t they? It’s embarrassing. Nobody in the country cares about any other teams? This isn’t new either. Every year with the 4-team playoff the narrative was what the path would be for a 2-loss SEC team to still get in.

The biggest nationally-ignored unexplained inconsistency is 1-loss Boise St. being ranked ahead of 2-loss Big 12 teams. They’ve played 1 P4 and lost (Let’s not forget that Oregon did not look great in the first few weeks of the season, so let’s not give BSU too much credit for a close loss). The Big 12 teams are 8-2 vs. P4 teams. If the 3-loss SEC teams are ahead of the 2-loss Big 12 teams because of SOS, then why aren’t the Big 12 teams ahead of the MWC team for the same reason? We all know from experience if a G5 team is undefeated they can flirt with the top ten, but as soon as they get a loss, they usually rocket down the rankings to the high teens. Not happening with BSU this year. Why? It’s not like they’ve destroyed everyone they played in the MWC like Indiana has in the Big 10 aside from the OSU loss. I don’t know what is more confusing; the fact that it’s happening or the fact that nobody is questioning it. The ISU AD went after SMU. Why SMU? At least they’re in a P4. Why not BSU?

It also says another thing: The committee views the MWC and the Big 12 as equals. They see the strength of conference as:

#1 – SEC/Big 10
Gap
#3 – ACC
Big gap
Everyone else.

This is such a s**tty conference.

Boise State was simply stupid and lost that game. They had it won. They are a legit good team and are the equal to Arizona State and Iowa State.

Highlights (or should I call them lowlights) of Bama’s season include loses to 6-6 Vanderbilt and 6-6 Oklahoma (as well as a respectable loss to Tennessee), and wins over Western Kentucky, South Florida, and mighty Mercer.

See, when you compare the ‘bad’ wins and just the losses, it is disingenuous. You do have to give credit to beating UGA, SC, blowing out Mizzou and LSU. But yes, getting crushed by OU was not a good look (nor a close loss to Vandy, both away games).

I’m no defender, but Alabama did have quality wins to go with losses they shouldn’t have, but almost every team does have flaws. I see the argument of them being at least about equal with a team like SMU that lost to BYU and has no wins over anyone in the top 25 at all.
