ParticipantWhere did he transfer from? How many years to play how many? Position?
-

ParticipantHe transfered from BYU. He is a LB. Not sure how many years to play.

NarfUte
ParticipantSigned with OSU, went on a mission and went to BYU when he got back. He’ll sit out next year and have 2 to play 2 after that (so 3 to play 3)

ParticipantSo followed Sitake but not digging the goods anymore?

ParticipantThanks, to clarify, OSU in this case is the one in Oregon, and he apparently followed Sitake to TDS when the situation changed during his mission. Folau signed with Oregon State way back in 2015, following GA from Wisconsin who had originally recruited him (and then also Sitake).

ParticipantYeah I read that in this article.

Participant3-4* kid coming out of high school, committed to Oregon St then went on a mission from god. Committed to BYU-p when he got off his mission. Pretty sure he just redshirted last season so he will be a sophomore with 3 years to play 3. Not sure if mentioned but it sounds like he will be a walk on this coming season.

ParticipantChristian was a 4* on most sites. Had a scholie to stanford and really really wanted to attend, but could not get the ACT score that Stanford required (he was a straight A student). Then Oregon offered him if he would forego a mission and come immediately, but he would not. He did follow Sitake to OSU and then the Y. never really looked at Utah in high school; dont know why.

ParticipantEast High grad probably is my guess.

ParticipantNailed it.
I had a conversation with another HS football coach who is very familiar with East’s program (this coach was a finalist in the state championship this year in one of the large school classifications). He said the East coach is “trying to make a name for himself” by sending his players to out of state colleges. So he’s trying to build up his own personal brand. It’s nothing against Whit or any other coach in state…he just wants to make the jump to college coaching somewhere, and he thinks sending players around the country is the way to do it.

ParticipantThat’s too bad about East’s coach. We need to get that guy hired somewhere so he can fulfill his dreams (TDS, Weber State, SUU?) and get another coach hired at East (preferrably an ex-Ute player). East routinely has some great players and is such a natural recruiting spot for Utah, seeing as it is the closest high school to campus (and they wear red).

ParticipantBut he was a 4*, isn’t that the only thing you’re worried about? Plus he is a walk on LB with potential, who cares if he played or not?

ParticipantRecruited by by Stanford, Wisconsin, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Cal, Utah, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt. And the biggest difference is he’ll be under Utah defensive coaches and not Levi Loving University.
