Locked On B12’s Drake Toll (who doesn’t seem to like Utah) had TJ Pittinger on and his comments are worth a listen.

For anyone not familiar with Pittinger, he’s a big FSU fan who’s very tapped into the ACC realignment speculation similar to how Flugaur is closely tapped into the B1G.

I recall Toll always rolling his eyes in previous videos regarding Utah and the B1G. He definitely has disdain for Utah. It’s good that we’re on the radar. It would be nice if it did happen sooner rather than later and we could silence all these clowns.

Must’ve been painful for him to hear how much respect Utah gets all across the country.

It’s obvious Toll knows how badly the Big 12 NEEDS Utah in the league, and how reluctant Utah appears to be to stay in the Big 12. Toll is a “Baylor” guy, so he’s well aware of how frequently, and easily they’ve been abused by bigger programs (re: Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Nebraska), so the last thing he needs is a new program in his conference who’s poised to bail on them without a second thought, should the opportunity arise.

It’s actually highly hypocritical of any Big 12 team to fault Utah for flirting with the BigTen, because there isn’t one single other Big 12 team — including Baylor — who wouldn’t leave for a P2 program if given the chance.

I definitely wouldn’t turn down an invite to the B1G or SEC, but there’s an argument to be made that e could be way better if in the 12 is we are able to consistently win the conference, make the playoff and build the brand. The big negative to going to the other two is that we’ll be directly competing with all the blue bloods and have a much less likelihood of making the playoff and becoming a new blood.

That said, the future is those two conferences or a conbination of them into a super league and e don’t want to be in the outside looking in.

Exactly. Clemson isn’t mad that they stacked up CFP appearances while competing in an “inferior” conference. They just wish they had a better GOR.

Utah just needs to handle it’s business and let others pound the table demanding that they get a seat during the next realignment which is Whitt’s entire MO.

I think you both are looking at it from a past perspective. There’s going to be a time in the very near future imo where the Super 2 Conferences separate from the the rest and have their own playoff. So while Clemson was able to take advantage of a weak ACC in the past, there’s a reason they now want out of the ACC along with FSU, and it goes beyond just revenue. They see the writing on the wall.

This. Right now, it might not be a bad thing to be in the B12 due to an easier path to the playoff. But we’ve already seen a hit to recruiting by being here, and in the long run, the B12 will be on the outside looking in. Purposely staying there would be a bad move for the university.

There will never be a Power 2 that is limited to 40 teams. The P4 could break odd into their own division 1, but it will include ALL the current power teams, plus several more like Washington St and Oregon St, Boise St, SDSU, Memphis. I’d put the number around 80 teams.

If you make it too few teams, yiu are going to lose ratings. Even if I’m Alabama and Ohio State, I don’t want to shut out 80 percent of college football from competing tor a national title.

If my team is left out, I’ll be done with college football.

The vast majority of people watch the top 40 teams. By going with only those 40, they aren’t shutting out 80% of CFB viewers. It’s not even close to that. In fact, it’s the other way around. The fact is, OSU, Georgia, Bama, USC, Texas, etc., don’t want to share the money they make with the remaining schools.

Well, I did address what you are saying in my last paragraph. Hence why we absolutely couldn’t turn down an invite should it come.

it’s a means to an end. You can’t change the fact that Utah didn’t get into the Big 2 this round so how do you set yourself up for the next one? By consistently outperforming your peers in the current landscape

I don’t think the leagues have a mechanism to remove schools- so when it is ready to happen it will likely be new organizations that can invite who they like.

For sure. The only way a super league hairband that doesn’t include, say, Vandy or Indiana, is of the posts in B1G and SEC leave their corns and create a new entity.

Once they break from the NCAA, they can create their own rules and could possibly create by laws, which would allow for removal or relegation. I agree it might be easier to just start from scratch to avoid court.

You know, and no offense to anyone, but watching that felt like watching porn where it turned out the chick had a dick.

Nerding out on sports(cfb or otherwise) is not a career path. It’s a labor of love. Even having watched less than an hour of it there is no shadow of a doubt that it’s garbage. This is the difference between being in a conference with Cal and Baylor. I swear I hate the Big 12 every day more than the last.

This is a business and there should be able to move teams from top tier to a lower tier
