ParticipantDo you think we will finally get to see Cooper Bateman if Huntley continues to struggle this week?
-
Utah
ParticipantNo. You stick with Huntley because he is your guy next year. Let Huntley learn and grow. He’s shown he’s a leader and a fighter. Whatever stumbles he gets will only make him better.
There is zero reason to play Troy or Bateman this year if Huntley is healthy.

ParticipantThis. So much this. Huntley is our future and we aren’t playing for the South anymore. Let Huntley take his lumps and gear up for next year.

ParticipantPlaying Bateman for 1 series doesn’t hurt Tyler overall and allows you to see what you have in Bateman.
-
Utah
ParticipantWhen do you play him 1 series? The time for that was vs Arizona, Stanford and USC. Not now.

ParticipantHow about when you’re down 30 to 10 against ASU?
-
Utah
ParticipantSure. But the coaches showed that Bateman was not an option after sticking with Troy. You can only assume Bateman has been worse than Troy, which means he pretty bad cause Troy ain’t good.

ParticipantA little late to find out what we have in Bateman, imo. Hes gone after 5 more games and Huntley has 2 yrs +5 games. Get him all the experience we can get him. If Huntley happens to get injured again I wouldn’t mind seeing Bateman(although if he were better than Troy he would have had a shot).

ParticipantAgree. We aren’t playing for anything this year other than to best position us for another crack at winning the south next year. Give Huntley all the experience he can get

ParticipantWe are still playing for a bowl game this year.

ParticipantNah, Huntley needs the experience and to learn from his mistakes. Similar to how Wilson wasn’t benched during that game against UCLA where he threw 6 INT’s. Growing pains and all that.

ParticipantDeveloping execution and chemistry within a new system has to be priority number 1 from here on out. Starting a 3rd qb does not help and playing your guy who is your guy going forward makes the most sense

ParticipantAll great points. I would just love to see how Cooper does is all. I think the guy is hungry to succeed and I would love to see what he could potentially bring to the table.

ParticipantUnfortunate, but Bateman has to live with his decision to go to an Alabama.
-
UteFanatic
ParticipantOuch for Bateman, but you’re 100% correct. It shouldn’t be surprising to even a 4-star QB that you might ride the bench at Alabama when they consistently bring in the best recruits in the nation.
You want playing time? Go somewhere where there isn’t NFL talent 3-deep at every position.

ParticipantIf Huntley is 95%+ then he should play. But if he looks like he’s hurting there isn’t any reason not to sub in Williams or Bateman or both is there? I just don’t want to see Huntley running around with his right arm dangling uselessly. On the other hand if he’s able to play then the kid needs reps up to junk time.

ParticipantAgreed don’t want another Jordan “glass shoulders” Wynn situation. Let the guy heal
