Sports often imitates life. We are approaching the 20th year with Whitt. Like any relationship, some of the most vital pillars are communication, trust and transparency. Even if you been in a mostly healthy relationship for over two decades, all of those pillars will collapse very quickly when you feel like you’ve been lied to, misled and got basically zero communication back. Especially when so much of it is obvious. Trust is a two way street. And when you’ve poured your money, emotion and time into something, you expect some of that to be compensated in the very least with updated communication/direction of the program. Especially after what we’ve gone through the last 2 seasons and now this offseason so far. It’s like the quote I’ve used “I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.”

So true! After the second season of who’s going to be the QB because everything was put in to the Rising basket, all while being told that this team has the most talent we have ever had, how can fans not feel like we are being gas lit? The silence around Whit’s retirement decision and the OC situation is only adding further fuel to the gas lighting fire at this point.

All while asking and expecting us to invest more into the program, literally and figuratively.

Hard to invest in anything that is one sided and closed off, with no information coming back at you outside of , “trust me”!

After watching this season, I will say this team was an emotion based team. When things were down, they struggled to get their heads out of the sand, and when things were going well, they were pumped and played great. I saw a lot of talent used poorly and a lot of poor plays by the talent we had. I think this team could have run the table the way it was talked about at the beginning of the season. The biggest struggles I saw all season was that the mobile quarterback torched our defense. We should have had double the sacks we did. Also, the poor play calling with run up the middle and an o line that couldn’t make a hole for Bernard. The man ran for 1000 yards, and I believe just 4 touchdowns. That is letting the man doing all the heavy lifting way down. We could have easily been 10 and 2 if you looked at how close some of our games were. Again, I m just a fan frustrated by a season that could have been so much more. Losing to Houston and TDS frustrated me beyond belief. I was at the UCF game, and it was super nice to see the defense win a game, but where was the offense. Every game since Wilson took over and even last season, where is the offense. I hate saying it, but whitt needs to pass the reigns to Scalley. He doesn’t love NIL and you can tell. I don’t love NIL but this is what we have until colleges pay players in a more fair way. We need someone who understands it and embraces it.
