ParticipantYo! First player win of Coach Jensen and staff…and IMO it’s a big win.
Well done, excited for continued momentum and follow on success.

ParticipantGiven he’ll very likely be starting and getting consistent minutes, will be a major contributor and an exciting part of next year’s team.

ParticipantOther news. Hunter Erickson is transferring to Hawaii for his final year. Best of luck to him. He should do well in the Big West.

ParticipantWill always remember Hunter’s OT trey against his former team to help us beat BYU and will remember his work ethnic. Had some rough games, but always played with maximum effort. Wish him well.

ParticipantUtah getting him to exit the portal so quickly indicates that Utah was willing to give him what he asked for, which almost certainly means Utah’s NIL coffers are much improved.
So glad KD will be back in a Utah uniform!

ParticipantDawes would be #1 on my list to retain. Potential 20pt 10reb guy. Reminds me of Shawn Marion. AJ will fine tune his game.
#2 Wahlin: hard to find a 6’9 player that can move and run the court. He can develop a corner 3 and an occasional drive to the basketball. He is a the ultimate role player and local kid.
#3 Mike S: many might disagree but he has ball handling skills as a 2 or 3 and can break down the defense if the offense stalls. He has a nice 3 pt and mid range game. Add a little strength and learn to finish at the rim he could find a role on this team.
#4 Asur: If he was 3 or 4 inches taller he would be my #1. Struggled a little against bigger players. A good low post scorer and threat. Improved his foul shooting and can get to the line. Can’t over pay for him.Point guard, shooting guard and a rim protector that can rebound along with more depth is our portal needs.

ParticipantAusar sure did improve his free throw shooting. Proud of him for that. I’d love to have him stay if he wants to, but I agree that we can’t overpay him.
Apart from Dawes bring the #1 priority, id say #2 is bringing in a GOOD point guard, someone who is smart and runs the floor well and be the one the offense runs through. All successful teams have a PG like this, but we haven’t had one for a long time. Gotta go find one.

ParticipantAgreed, it was great to see him fix that aspect of his game. It was obviously such a glaring hole, that had he not fixed it, I would have had to question his seriousness. Ezra not making free throws was worse than Gabe not making 3s. His whole game is getting to the basket and getting fouled, so to leave points on the floor because he couldn’t make a 15′ unguarded shot was painful to watch. More painful even than watching your designated 3-pt shooter go 19 of 67 (28%) over the last 6 games while the team went 1-5.
Interestingly, he was only 32.2% from 3pt range on the year, which was only good for 6th on the team.
Zach 40%
Mason 38%
Jake 35%
Hunter 35%
Keanu 34%
Gabe 32%
