ParticipantUtah’s best player moved to linebacker, also, interesting to see Cody Barton listed ahead of Donovan Thompson at MAC, but I think he can hold the position down.

ParticipantWe have a DE, LB and DB up for best player in the country.
And our best player might be a DT (Fotu). That defense is STACKED.

ParticipantIs Jaylon Johnson the best talent in the defensive backfield? The kid is the highest rated high school recruit Utah has ever snagged. The kid started as a freshman and that’s got to be tough to do in a Kyle Ehittingham offens.

ParticipantJulian Blackmon is our best CB. He has potential with a good year to go in the first round in the draft next year as a JR.
While Jaylon Johnson isn’t better than him today, he has potential to be even better. And we have him for at least two more years. We are absolutely stacked at CB.
Tyrone Smith has NFL potential and he’s a backup. This is upper level P5 depth. It’s crazy.

ParticipantI think Johnson was the better CB last year. QB’s threw less at Johnson because those receivers were blanketed. Thus giving Blackmon more opportunity to make plays with the ball coming to his side more often. That being said, it’s good to see two experienced guys with some upside. Blackmon projects as a safety in the NFL, which might be perfect as he can add some muscle and be a ball hawk.

ParticipantCoaches, scouts and analysts all say Blackmon is better right now and projects as a first round potential next spring.
I mean, we are splitting hairs here. They are both incredible talents and will end up being the best and second best CB’s we’ve ever had.
It’s shocking to think about that.

ParticipantThey do? Johnson was rated the 2nd best lockdown corner in the PAC12 through the first 4 games, not sure where the rankings finished. The only way Blackman is ahead is because Johnson is coming off an injury and or they are promoting the older player to help get

ParticipantBlackmon is NFL talent. I highly doubt he will be here next year. Here is some proof:
That article is top 10 defensive back. Cornerbacks, safeties, inside backs. For him to be considered a top 10 defensive back overall is amazing. And this is a junior, in the preseason.
