ParticipantWhat’s his salary at the G-League level?

ParticipantI don’t know how salaries compare between G league and college assistant. But he played in the NBA for, what, 17 years? I’m guessing at this point it’s not about the money for him. It’s about the fulfillment and what he wants to do.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to be a development league head coach or returning to your alma mater and helping resurrect it. Both would be amazing opportunities.
I guess we’ll find out tonight which one he’s chosen.

ParticipantAndre has a net worth of about 50 million I don’t think money is a concern.
He loves to Coach and he wants to do it at Utah.
He’s living his best life.

ParticipantSeveral reports indicated Andre tried to join Craig Smith’s staff last year, but Smith ultimately declined. Sounds very much to me like Andre has the interest.

ParticipantThis is correct. He offered to be on Craig’s staff for free but Smith said no thanks.

ParticipantIf this in indeed true…
Of all the questionable decisions Smith made or was rumored to make, this would be by far the worst. You have a university legend of an ex-player, all-American, longtime NBA player, experienced pro coach who calls you and wants to work on your staff as a VOLUNTEER…and you say no!?
If you make decisions that bad, stay 500 feet away from my car.

ParticipantYeah, it sounds as if Smith was either very stubborn in his ways or he had some paranoia that former fan favorites would upstage him. Not sure what it is, but if you get offered that kind of help for free and don’t take it…. I don’t know what your thought process is.

ParticipantThis is one of those rumors or stories that I wish I could get on the record type confirmation. This seems like ego and idiocy by Smith.

ParticipantRight? Put him in charge of recruiting, assistant HC, and anywhere else he wants to help. I think he would be like Donny Daniels. Kids would love him.

ParticipantIn Miller’s case, unless somebody like Miller comes out and says he offered and was shot down, we won’t know for certain. I still think where there is smoke, there is usually fire. Josh Grant in his interview was more forthcoming than most people are in these type of situations saying that help was offered to Smith by former players etc and he either ignored or turned that help down. Grant felt that was a big factor in his termination.

ParticipantAndre’s made more money than he’ll ever be able to spend….Total non-issue for him.
