Am I reading the box score correctly. 30-65 FG. 19-50 3P.

19-23 from FT, I could live with that % all year long. Auser 7-8, Daws 5-6. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401720539

Anyone that went to the game have a game report?

      Thanks!

Yeah it seemed like we were playing at a high pace and getting shots off within the first 10 seconds of the shot clock. Idk how much will change when we get both our centers back, but it feels like we’re going to try to out shoot our opponents this year.

Just realized my viewing of posts was set to Football only…so I didn’t see the other basketball posts mentioning some of the same things I mentioned above.

All of the low post Bigs are hurt.

Lovering, Keller, Traore are all out.

Traore for the season while Lovering and Keller are going to miss significant time.

It was a fun game to watch as the threes were going in. But it felt like we struggled more than we should in the paint against a low tier opponent, which feels pretty foreboding.

The Utes do not have a single player as good as Smith or Carlson last year, however, the first part of the team 1 thru 10 likely is better. And this is the case before the centers are added to the team. My question is how much better can the team get with time playing together? Carlson seems to be hard to replace, Smith may possibly be replaced by improvement to the entire guard line. The 2s seem to be better players than last year. The Utes seemed to make 3 guards / 2 forwards work but then 5 guards could have beat Central Arkansas. I have only seen 1 game but I am hopeful that the defense will be improved.

Like to see that Free throw percentage. Especially late in close games Utah was always making it hard on them selves last season.

That 3p attempt ratio seems like a definite strategy. Pretty gross. 17 made is nice.

Utah was 83% at the free throw line last night which felt better than last year. Watching to see what Mason Madsen is like. He was ordinary his first 2 years but last year was something like 95% but over only 20 something attempts. Either way, he could be the best we have had since Jeff Jonas back in my day if he can repeat that success. Get the ball to him at the end of games.

Remember the days when we led the country in free throw percentage? Dang that was like 30 years ago now.
