What are your thoughts? Good camping? Best time of year to go?

      Sorry not Ute related.

Haven’t. Looks nice though.  Love Mirror Lake. Beautiful area.

Haha sorry I actually meant Mirror Lake. I don’t know why I said Moon. When do you typically go to Mirror?

Now you have me interested in Moon Lake. Haha.  It’s pretty high up there so it can be chilly unless it is summer.

We drove up to Mirror Lake last year and it looked amazing. When you go, do you reserve sites way in advance? Online it’s already booked up for most of the year.

I found unreserved sites a few miles short of the lake.

I did once as a kid in June. I remember I got  three horsefly bites in one night.

      10,500 ft elevation

That is very high for camping.  Not sure elevation, but nearby Lilly Lake USFS campground is nearby and lower.

I camp up in that area every year.  I would reserve in advance. I’ve gone up multipule times last minute and had to find pull off spots off the highway.  Some campgrounds book up months in advance.  Get’s cold at night and you can expect thundershowers nearly every afternoon in the summer.

if you go, about 2-3 miles past Mirror Lake towards Evanston is the Pass Lake trail-head where you can hike the Lofty Lake Loop.

As God is my witness that is one of the most gorgeous hikes in the world, its about 5 hours of lakes and streams and alpine awesomeness. I hiked it again in August last year and we saw 5 people in 5 hours.

The Mount Baldy hike near there is one of my favorite hikes.  Last time we did it we saw about a dozen mountain goats, some as close as 20 feet away.

Mirror is nice but I like Moose Horn better.  Less crowded.

Thanks for the tip.  I’ll have to check it out.
