KeymasterGood story. Don’t really know who he is other than he obviously plays for the jazz.

ParticipantRunner-up in the rookie of the year race. Basically the best Jazz rookie in 30 years.

ParticipantBest Jazz drafted player since Malone easily.

Utah
ParticipantHe’s being developed for the New York Knickerbockers.
*ducks and runs*

ParticipantAnd this is just another cynical thing to make Utah love him and build his brand.
-
Utah
ParticipantUtah isn’t building his brand. It’s his dad. He isn’t everywhere because everyone loves the new Jazzman. He’s everywhere because he is smart as hell and he is taking advantage of all his dad’s connections.
Why else would this Jazzman so suddenly be everywhere?

ParticipantYou are aware of the internet right?
-
Utah
ParticipantInter-nat? What’s that? What the thingy that releases clips and stories about people written by other people?
Those other “people” who write the stories, say, as a favor for a person who has been very helpful to them in their careers, say, someone who might possibly be named Donovan Mitchell Sr, whose whole career as Director of Player Relations for the NY Mets as been to generate good publicity for professional athletes and generate buzz and hype around them?
But, nah, for some reason the media in NEW YORK CITY (and surrounding areas) has suddenly become emanated with a player in Utah.

ParticipantSo, let’s see this set of facts and see if it comports with what you are saying.
1) Tweet goes out thanking DM from random internet guy.
2) Utah media picks it up.
3) DM (with a huge twitter following) responds to guy saying no big deal.
4) National media picks it up.
5) DM is a kid from the area, regardless of father’s affiliation.
6) DM is runner-up ROY
7) DM is really good at basketball
8) Actions taken by DM were really nice.
This has the makings of a viral story that would have been picked up regardless. It ain’t his Dad building it. It ain’t grooming for New York. It’s a story that was fueled by the viral nature of the internet.
