ParticipantJust don’t. It’s dumb. It’s stupid. Stop it.
*sigh* Social media is a cesspool.

ParticipantThe nastiness on Twitter lately is just mind boggling and sad! Leave the parents alone! Yesterday it was the @Promoteabook guy vs Cole Fotheringham’s father. Today it’s Ute Twitter vs Zach Wilson’s mom. What the hell is wrong with people???

KeymasterShe had some factually incorrect statements/criticisms about Utah Football and is paying for it.

ParticipantI get the need to correct the inaccuracies, but there are ways to do it. Directly engaging with a parent is dumb.

ParticipantIn all fairness, in the tweet I believe you’re referring to, Mrs. Wilson engaged the poster first. It was not a post directed to Mrs. Wilson. If I am off base, someone please correct me.

ParticipantRight. Wilson shouldn’t have stepped in (although that I understand being a parent and al…still don’t do that kind of thing). But UTah fans should have just rolled their eyes and let it be.

ParticipantTotally agree. Also, if you are the parent of a player, don’t get on social media. lol. Look, Wilson is a nice QB. That’s it. He’s a lot closer to Mangum than he is to Huntley.
I don’t think it will end well for him and mom down there at BYU. When that fanbase turns on him, it could get really, really ugly.
All that being said, I’m happy for Wilson’s mom. I think she is a lot happier with him at BYU than if he would have gone to Utah. Good for her. And good for him. He gets to play and maybe play all four years down there. That is a great opportunity that he would not have gotten at Utah.
So, all in all, everyone wins.
But, yeah, don’t engage zoobs, whether fans or parents or players. It’s not worth it. They all live in a fantasy land.

ParticipantWorth it? I lose nothing by engaging them. It’s a lot of fun actually.

ParticipantHere’s the Twitter thread, if anyone’s interested. Funny in a “can’t look away from the train wreck” sort of way, I suppose.

ParticipantThis. I thought the original tweet as okay, nothing really remarkable. Lisa shouldn’t have replied. And UTe fans shouldn’t have replied to Lisa. It’s so mindboggingly dumb why people do this. Just like that promote a book guy from yesterday.

Participant“Not that I care what you think.”
Apparently she cares enough to reply.
“He got offers bigger than Utah”
Not according to 247.

ParticipantLet’s see… Cal, Iowa, Syracuse. Those are the only programs that are anywhere near Utah. The rest are G5 programs.

ParticipantAll CLeArLy better than Utah. Just ask any BYU fan.

ParticipantYea, she’s confusing interest with offer.
A neighbor kid had a number of schools “interested” in him for football (UofM,Penn State, ND)… he got an offer from Western Mich.

ParticipantHow about players parents stay the f**k off twitter if they can’t handle it. They all know what social media is. How is this my problem? It’s rivalry week… they get what they get.
