After what has to have been the toughest conference schedule in the country so far (tied with Colorado), our Utes are in a 4-way tie for 7th in the conference, with six losses against teams ranked in the top 10 in the country. Of the final 8 games, they “only” have two games remaining against top 10 teams (Stanford and UCLA), so it will be an opportunity to try to solidify a spot in the middle of the conference standings. Two winnable road games this weekend with the Washington schools, let’s go Utes!

Have we really played, and lost to six top 10 teams in the country?

As of today, here are the PAC-12 teams in the top 25:
      3. Oregon
      6. Stanford
      9. Oregon State
      10. UCLA
      12. Arizona
      19. Arizona St.

The PAC-12 has to be the top conference in WBB this year and I don’t think it’s close. We have played both Oregon schools twice and UCLA and Stanford once each.

I find it very hard to believe Stanford was ranked 6 in the nation, but great.

          Perhaps confusing W with M?

Yep! Played Stanford last night, Stanford mentioned in the post.  I’m like “huh?”  Always helps to notice the category…

Two good conference road wins last weekend in Washington to put ourselves all alone in 7th in the Pac-12. This weekend has home games against Stanford and Cal. Stanford is ranked #8 and beat us by 33 at their place although the game was more competitive than the score indicates. A Utes win would be a major upset, let’s hope for continued improvement at the least. Cal is at the bottom of the Pac-12 standings so hopefully we can take care of business. The two teams right behind us in the standings have tougher weekend opponents, so presumably we will be able to stay alone in 7th if we were to go 1-1. I need to find the Pac-12 tournament brackets to figure out potential opponents but there aren’t many easy options…. Let’s go Utes!
