I must admit I found it entertaining to see all the sad faces on Duke when they lost.

I certainly won’t miss the barrage of Zion/Duke coverage on the ESPN twitter feed. It was beyond ridiculous.

The hype train is strong on this. The amount of coverage just makes me thing he is going to have a serious career ending injury. I am not wishing it on him but the way his body moves at his size? Just feels like a matter of time.

He reminds me a bit of Larry Johnson. Grandmama J’s career was shortened and hampered somewhat by his back injury. I hope that same thing doesn’t happen to Zion.

No Duke. No Carolina. What is Dick Virale gonna do with all his free time now?

He’s still got Michigan St. He sucks them off pretty hard too.

Vitale, like the rest of the country, probably won’t watch the final four if he can find any conceivable way out of it. If Duke guards could throw a decent entry pass, they win that game by 10+.
People whine about coach K and Duke… what about Tom Izzo and Michigan State? It’s not just the gymnastics program that has been inappropriate.

Coach K needs to retire. He has the best basketball player in the nation and was outcoached by Izzo. Duke as a team nearly lost to inferior teams multiple times in the Tourney. UCF should have won and Puke luck was what got them far.

yea, Coach K is a real horrible coach…
-
chinngiskhaanParticipant
Outcoached? It’s like I said before, it came down to simple player execution. If Duke’s team was half as experienced as Michigan State, they would have won easily. If Zion went to the free throw line every time he was fouled on a layup attempt he would be averaging 8-10 more ppg. That’s not a coaching issue, that’s an officiating issue. He was held every time they tried to throw an entry pass over the top to him. He was fouled nearly every time he went up for a shot (and nothing was called, as usual).
By far my least favorite thing about basketball officiating is the swallowing of the whistles because the guy getting fouled is big, and the guy doing the fouling is not. It happens in basketball at every level, and it’s totally unfair. Zion will learn to flail his arms and exaggerate contact like every other good NBA player, and he’ll make a career for himself. It is sad that basketball has come to that, but it is what it is.
Coach K may need to retire, but I don’t see how you could really say that he was out coached in that situation.

Not Clear on why Coach K may need to retire? Does he need to win the NC to get a pass? If he was 10 years youger would you think he did a great job?

Puke not getting calls? I have something for you:

I dislike Duke as well but a final four where the biggest name left is Coach Izzo is kind of a Ambien-fest for me.

Do you know what really sucks? Guess which one of the major conferences didn’t make the Final 4? We didn’t make the college football playoffs either. I’m hoping this is an outlier as opposed to a sustained trend…

Blame the commish of the PAC 12…his product is slipping.

Oregon with Bol Bol is a Final Four team this year. It is sad he got hurt.

They got way hot to end the year. Well coached team that improves throughout the year. Oh my envy…
