Was just reading on 247 that with the early Signing period tomorrow, we could essentially be done with our 2020 recruiting class.

If we can get the Fillinger’s and Phillips of the world, this would be huge.

-It would mean no waiting around until February and keeping our fingers crossed for guys to sign

-Coaches would no longer have to split their time between both 20 and 21 classes

-This is our best season in years, strike while the iron is hot and get some 21 guys going

This could be a big turning point for our program.

Being in top 5’s with blue bloods was flattering, being in top 2/3’s was awesome, but this is our year to snag the Sewell’s and Tufele’s we’ve missed in the past.

Phillips is a solid tOSU commit but he’s “kicking the tires” because the coach that recruited him took a head coaching job at another program.  He’s the 45th best recruit in the nation and would be the “man” for the Buckeyes.

Not sure what the Ute sales pitch is except maybe closer to home? Clearly he would be the top dog at Utah…but then again, he’d be the top dog at any program.

Yea, these are the type of athletes the Utes need to snag.

Less coaching turnover! Close to home. Chance to leave a legacy. More fandom due to no professional football teams.

Idk the Ohio St roster, but he would be guaranteed to be the man here vs a chance to contribute his freshman year (assuming they are full of 4 and 5* guys).

Lastly, Whitts humble pie tastes a whole lot better than Ohio States THE bullcrap.

Lol at more fandom from no NFL teams…

tOSUs fan base in 10x what ours is.

yup, fandom argument falls flat…no comparison.

Also, the history/brand is unmatched.  and the UofM vs. team down south game is what kids dream about.

The history/brand is unmatched? USC, BAMA, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas. At this moment Ohio St is better than that list but Ohio st unmatched in history/brand ever? You’re on drugs.

Sales pitch is he’s basically guaranteed to start right away here and follow Jaylon Johnson’s path. Ohio State’s DB room is crowded.

correct. tOSU has two 5* DB juniors/sophs and two 4* junior/sophs on the roster and has another 4* commit this year.  He would need to be the real deal to start next year.

Jaylon Johnson’s career at Utah is a big selling point to other defensive blue chip athletes. His story at Utah is basically the dream scenario for a 4-star recruit (freshman starter, contributor for 3 years, All-American honors, legendary status among Ute fans, graduated in 3 years, and leaving early for a big NFL paycheck).

Utah has a lot to offer elite defensive athletes. I’m hoping this is the year where we see some dividends on the recruiting front.
