Hopefully tonight is not the Utes last men’s basketball game this season, but if it is, it will mark the end of an era with Donny Daniels’ retirement from college basketball.
Donny was a VERY key cog to the great run in the mid-to-late 90’s culminating in a team that made the Sweet Sixteen 3 straight years, the Elite Eight and the National Title game (from the ‘96-‘98 seasons).
Donny was the primary recruiter responsible for landing Keith Van Horn…a game changing recruit for the program!
He also landed other big time guys, like Brandon Jessie!
Donny was the primary “BIGS” developmental assistant coach under Big Rick!
Donny was a great “equalizer” between Big Rick and the players… the glue that helped hold those teams together!!!
Thanks Donny Daniels for all you have done for Utah Basketball!! Good luck in your retirement years!
Go Utes!!!
