This quote makes me feel better about Utah’s chances this fall:
Defensively, the Utes need bodies to replace defensive linemen Hunter Dimick, Lowell Lotulelei, and Pita Taumoepenu.
The good news is, we’ve already replaced Lowell with a dude named Lowell. Crazy coincidence, right?
Fitts will step into Hunter’s role and fill that nicely, and it is looking like Anae will be better than Pita Taumoepenu. Then add in Mokofisi, who will be in the NFL next year.
Our DL will be stacked.
Our safeties will be very, very close to what they were last year, if not better. Ballard is amazing and Hansen is improved. So, if Hansen takes up Marcus’ production and Ballard takes up Hansen’s, we will be fine there.
Smith has looked really good at CB and so has Blackmon at NB and Burgess has been solid as well. And, we add Guidry, Johnson and Lewis in the fall.
Our defense could be better than last year’s.
And LB’ers, you ask? Luafatasaga will compete for an All PAC-12 spot.
Our season literally comes down to OL and QB play. That will be the difference between 7 and 9 wins.
