The lack of respect for Utah nationally sometimes baffles me. Not in an outraged way, but in a “hmm” way, and it’s not just the media. When folks in Arizona casually asked me in the preseason who’d win the South Division, and I said, “I’ve got Utah,” the reaction almost uniformly was, “Really?!”

Part of that is Utah and coach Kyle Whittingham not being terribly flashy.

That said, it is worth noting that the Utes moved up in the rankings after losing to Washington and, again, after an off week. So maybe folks are coming around.

I don’t blame anyone for being skeptical about Utah. We’ve gotten close, but we haven’t even won our own division yet. If Colorado wins it this year, Utah will be the only P12 South team that hasn’t made the championship game.

Gotta win to get respect. Hopefully this is our year.
